Chapter 6: Moments With Him

I shivered lightly whilst frozen in place. I could hardly say anything as Alpha Parker's deep gaze burrowed into my skull. He only came to a halt when we were only inches apart. I can honestly feel his every breath. He is staring at me with his cloudy eyes that are glinting for no apparent reason. He was an attractive man by all accounts, but his aura was terrifying! I'm certain that I would never be able to stand him.

His eyes shot down as if scanning my body. At that moment, everything inside me winced, and I averted my gaze. This is transporting me to a dreadful past, and I feel like I'm about to vomit.

"What is your name?" Alpha Parker asked like a jury, his lack of emotion fueling my fear.

The lack of music and everyone's stares didn't help either. I couldn't speak for a moment to answer him. I mean, how could I say anything? So, he asked me again, this time more impatiently.

"Lady, I asked you a question."

"A—Aubrey. Hello, my name is Aubrey," I said, finally finding my squeaky voice.

"Do you know who I am, Aubrey?" His deep voice inquired once more.

"I d—do. Yeah... Who doesn't?" I nervously replied like a kid, returning my gaze to him with a nervous leer. I watched as his eyes flicked down to my lower lip. Why is he looking there? Does he want to kiss me? No way!

After what seemed like minutes, his darkened eyes returned to mine. "Follow me." He commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument. I knit my brows in defeat. He turned around, and those who were watching us made their way for him. Taking a single deep breath, I bottled all of my fear and forced my feet forward. It took me quite a few steps to catch up to him; my short legs had to work much harder than his long ones.

Eventually, we reached the table up front. The setup there was particularly grand, as if only those who could sit there were VIPs. Alpha Parker signaled me to sit down, and I did as I was told, bringing my head down in shame. Then, his huge figure hovered next to me. We sat particularly close to each other, and everyone seemed to resume the event and looked away. Lucky them, they wouldn't have to deal with him...

"We'll be traveling to my territory tomorrow morning," Alpha Parker said, his voice emotionless. For a few moments, I considered what he had said. My parents and the Alpha of our pack would never assist me in escaping. I couldn't see Hailey or Adam assisting me in escaping Alpha Parker and the giant men who seemed to be following him. I had no other option but to leave with Alpha Parker. Fuck, is this how I'd end up?

I never thought I would be this unlucky. Still, it's not like I can protest against this or something. I'll die if I did.

As I considered what he had said, I scrunched my brows together, trying to make my impending tears pull back. I didn't realize that he was looking at me the entire time, so I cleared my expression and flashed a fruitful smile.

"Okay. I'm going to say goodbye to my family and friends first. I—I'll be back shortly." I said to him, doing my absolute best to keep my voice strong and steady. I knew I needed some fresh air and the opportunity to say goodbye to my family.

I stood silently as his eyes burned holes into my own.

"Do not stray too far," he replied.

With that, I quickly walked away, grabbing the hem of my skirt and feeling my sadness taking over. This can't be good. Look at me now, waiting for my mate's approval before doing my own thing!

Huffing, I looked around, and after what felt like ages, I finally bumped into a familiar face.

"Hailey.." I choked out, my voice starting to crack.
