Parker's POV
I reached the mansion after a thorough scout of the vicinity, but my excitement quickly bubbled down to something else. I don't know why, but I felt like there was something horribly wrong.
I just stormed out of the car, and I already smelled something faint yet familiar.
Aubrey's blood... It's wafting through the air. Panic coursed through my veins, and I immediately ran upstairs with the help of Roger's super speed. I had no idea what happened, but the worse case scenario played in my head like a broken record.
"Aubrey!" I called her name as I opened the door to our room. However, what greeted me was more than one body. My chest constricted in panic, but my gaze immediately shifted towards the bathroom, where I located my mate sitting on a pool of blood.
My jaw dropped as I crouched down at the speed of light. I held her in my arms and tapped her pale cheeks. She looked almost lifeless, making me worry. "Aubrey, fuck!" I cursed and Roger's howls echoed throughout.
Checking her pulse, I realized that there was still a chance. She was probably stabbed, judging by the cut in her back and the continuous flow of blood.
"Someone send a doctor here! Three of our members has been attacked!" My voice echoed across the entire pack. I didn't even talk through the mind link, I just yelled. One by one, people arrived in the room.
I was on my knees in front of Aubrey, looking at the other two, Kyra and Clara. They were convulsing, but I could tell that their condition was a little better. What matter to me the most was Aubrey.
When something nearby gleamed, I looked at it and saw that it was a silver dagger. My anger boiled down at the weapon. Fuck, who would do something like this?
With that, I tore up parts of my shirt and pressed it against Aubrey's wounds. I kept it tight and held my breath as I prayed to the Moon Goddess to keep the love of my life safe. Aubrey's breathing was starting to get erratic, so I felt even more desperate.
"No, please... Stay with me, Aubrey." I chanted those same words repeatedly as I plugged her stab wound with a piece of cloth and my palm. My tears ricocheted against the floor, and I was already covered in sweat. Despair ate me up alive, and I knew I wasn't ready for this.
A few more seconds later, the pack doctor arrived. I felt their presence, but I refused to keep my poise and only wailed beside Aubrey as I held her.
"Alpha, I'll take care of this. Please, let go of her right now..." the pack doctor told me. She had a sorry gaze, and I looked at her with a gloomy expression, my eyes still glinting from all the tears.
"Please, save her..." I muttered, and I was slowly pulled away from Aubrey with the help of my Beta.
Warriors who scouted the vicinity and heaps of doctors and nurses flooded the room while I stood on the side, pulling my hair in anxiousness for the wellness of my mate.
"Hold on, Kyra! We're going to save you, okay?" I heard Troy's panicking voice and pursed my lips. Something happened to my sister too. And so, I walked next to them and saw that she suffered the same consequence. The only difference was her wound was a lot shallow compared to Aubrey.
And as it turns out, Clara suffered the same thing. I paced around the room, worried beyond belief when I saw some of the doctors carrying Aubrey in a stretcher. "Where are you taking her?!" I growled.
"Alpha, you helped stop the bleeding, but she's in a really bad condition right now. We have to perform an operation to take all silver pigments in her bloodstream. We can't guarantee you that she'll wake up soon, but I can promise you that we'll do everything to keep her safe. Please, trust us for now," she said, and I closed my eyes to heave deeply.
"T—Thank you..." I muttered, completely gaining my poise as they pulled Aubrey out.
"We will bring her to the hospital now," she added and pulled away.
"I will be there shortly," I said, pinching the bridge of my nose so I can keep calm.
To keep myself from losing my mind, I decided to help the other men going around the room to investigate who did this. Based on the state of the room, nothing seemed different. My things remained on their spot, no signs of crashed windows, not a single piece of item was stolen, and most importantly, a fight didn't seem to occur.
But that begs the question of who did it because when I came inside, the three of them were already lying on the floor. Did the culprit escape like our security was nothing? That's damn nearly impossible, unless it's an inside job.
I walked over to Kyra and Clara. Doctors were tending to them, and as I've said, they suffered the same fate, but their lives could be easily salvaged because they didn't lose much blood.
"What happened to them?" I asked, deciphering their pale looks.
"They weren't stabbed with a silver knife. Instead, the perpetrator used a vial of wolf's bane. The dose is lower, so it can't kill them. They're going to be unconscious for a few hours, but other than that, they're fine..." the doctor attending to Clara clarified. I could see him pumping out the poison out of her body, and it made me frown.
"Who the fuck would do this?" I whispered, and Troy stood next to me.
"Someone they trust..." he said and looked into my eyes. He was tear-stricken, disbelief painted on his face. My lips quivered in anger. When I first brought that girl over here, I thought she'd be someone who could help me win over Aubrey.
Based on how she acted, I thought I could trust her even if she was a human because Aubrey was her friend. However, it seemed like I was mistaken. Humans are all the same. They want nothing but chaos.
"Mary..." I growled in anger. "Look around the mansion and territory. I'm sure she hasn't escaped completely yet."
"Yes, Alpha!" my men answered in unison and I turned to the distraught look on Troy's face.
"Y—You think she did this?" Troy muttered in disbelief, and I could only sigh for a second.
