Fall ended early, and in comes the winter season. Fog enveloped the town, and although I have always been reprimanded for spending too much time hanging out with humans, I couldn't shove my interest away. I was only ten, after all, and they are such interesting creatures. We look the same, so I can pass off like them too.
Oftentimes, as a kid, I would trek to the neighbouring town, just a skew away from my pack's territory and watch as the human kids play by the waterfall on the outskirts of the area.
At first, I was a loner. I would only watch other kids play in their social cliques, hoping they would invite me to hang out with them. I was hungry for friendship, not because I didn't have any friends, but because I wanted to become more human. As a young and dumb werewolf, I've always been reminded by my elders that I shouldn't befriend humans because humans hated our kind. Even Hailey and Adam condemned my wishes of having a human friend. That's why I had no choice but to do my escapade on my own. I lived a double life.
Thankfully, I eventually met a couple of kids around the same age as me, and one of them was named Mary. She was a pretty girl with luscious blonde hair. Her life was perfect, and her parents were rich too. I heard that she was popular in her school, and even at such a young age, boys fancied him already.
Admittedly, I felt a pang of jealousy, but that jealousy snowballed into a desire for sisterhood.
As time passed by, Mary and I grew closer, and she started inviting me into her home and even introduced me to her school friends. I was quick to trust them because they were all nice to me, far from the usual stories my elders told me.
One of the friends I made through Mary was a high school boy named Dennis Jackson. He was so gorgeous, and he was also really popular. I had never had a boyfriend at that point, but I remember as clear as day how I fell for his palpable charms.
It didn't help that Mary convinced me that he felt the same way too.
"I think Dennis's into you." Mary said one time, her hair flailing around as we stayed atop the balcony of her room. We were watching Mary's friends playing by the back garden, and Dennis was one of the guys who was playing ball.
Mary's statement made me blush like a ripe tomato.
"What made you say that?" I asked whilst looking at Dennis, who also shot a quick gaze at me.
"Well, take a look. He practically can't keep his eyes off of you!"
Pursing my lips to stop myself from squealing, I looked at Dennis again and he shot me another one of his quick gaze. However, this time, he bedazzled me with a quick, alluring wink.
"Impossible..." I just said to hide my embarrassed self.
"Oh, come on! Let's go down and I'll prove it to you." After saying that, Mary pulled me away from the balcony and we went to the back garden to mingle with her other friends. The whole time, I tried to play it cool, but I did feel Dennis' gaze reaching over me from time to time.
As we, the girls, began to take out some of the sandwiches Mary's mother made, I heard a voice calling me from over my shoulder. "Aubrey..."
I turned around and found myself locking eyes with Dennis.
"Y—Yeah?" I mumbled at Dennis's towering frame. In a move I had watched many times, he raised his hand to run his fingers through his already drying hair,
"Do you wanna come with me?"
"Where?" I asked nervously, although I would admit that I felt quite excited.
"Just, you know, walk around the woods."
His words sent shivers down my spine. Does this mean he likes me too? I looked over at Mary and she gave me a nod of approval.
"A—Alright..."
...
Dennis lead me to the woods, and the cool breeze of the upcoming winter made me shiver. He was walking ahead and I could see his tall figure haughtily looking left to right.
"Where are we going?" I asked, but he didn't answer as we reached a clearing.
Just then, Dennis pushed me against a nearby tree. "I've been wanting to do this all day."
I was taken aback, and before I knew it, Dennis was already kissing me. At that moment, I felt my stomach churn, but it wasn't out of giddiness. I liked Dennis, but I didn't like what he was doing.
"Stop, please..." I begged, frozen on my spot as his kisses trailed down my neck. At that point on, he began touching my breast. I whimpered in disgust, but I still couldn't do anything.
"No!" Dennis yelled, and pain took over me as he pulled me down on the dirt ground.
I struggled to breath as my vision had gone blurry.
This wasn't how I wanted things to go. My stupid crush on this rapist clouded my judgement. Was I to blame for all of this? Slowly Dennis crouched down and slid atop of me.
I could hear him snicker as he fondled my clothed breasts. I turned my head away, not wanting to see what was going to happen next.
As Dennis trailed his mouth down my neck to unbutton every last obstacle of my shirt, I let out a sob. I felt his hand snaking throughout my body, settling on my sensitive tits. I briefly looked over at Dennis as tears clouded my vision. Dennis's eyes were clouded with lust, and he seemed so distracted by my body.
However, I didn't expect something to liven up inside me.
"Aubrey, run!" I heard a voice from the back of my head. Adrenaline rush took over my consciousness. The sensation was unlike anything I had ever felt before, and I knew without a doubt that my wolf had finally surfaced.
Propping up in a single movement, I brought my knee above Dennis and used all of the strength I had remaining and kicked Dennis straight to his crotch. Without waiting for anything, I jumped to my feet and took off into the forest. I could hear Dennis screaming as I got away.
Something greater than strength fueled me from the inside. All I had in mind was the thought of getting away. While I still felt freezing cold, I barreled through the woods as if I wasn't affected.
I ran and ran for about thirty minutes, not thinking of stopping even once. Finally, I sighed in relief as I passed into the pack's territory. The sight of a little house came into view and I used what remained of my strength to force myself to walk forward. Unfortunately, my feet gave up on me as I reached the front doorsteps of the cabin.
Darkness clouded my vision, and I completely passed out after hearing the voice of my wolf for the first time.
"You're safe now, Aubrey..."
