I stuttered at his question. "Y—Yeah. I'm done..." I answered, looking away because I recalled what he said in the car. He seemed so ready to entertain my needy instincts, so I stifled my thoughts about his toned and enormous body and composed myself.

"Alright," he responded and looked at his phone again, allowing me to finally breathe. I couldn't help but feel a pang of smugness at the way he talked to me. I'm not used to it.

I walked over to my suitcase and placed my dirty clothes deep in the suitcase, making sure my clean clothes wouldn't touch the worn-out ones. After that, I dug around for a few minutes, looking for something very important.

"Where is it?" I muttered to myself, turning several pockets around.

"Is everything alright?" Alpha Parker's voice echoed behind me. I rolled my eyes. It's not like he can help.

"Nothing," I said and finally found what I was looking for. I took it out of the suitcase with a victorious smile. "Bubbles..." I mumbled, looking at the white stuffed teddy bear in my hand.

"What's that?" Alpha Parker's voice came out of nowhere. It turns out that he was already next to me, crouching over whilst looking at Bubbles. Naturally, I jolted and let a little squeak emerge from my mouth. I stood and faced him, saying, "You scared me." I frowned upon hearing my small voice. Watching his expression shift to an unreadable one, I found myself wondering if he was amused or disappointed.

"My apologies," he muttered, and I watched his pink lips form a small smirk. I sent him my best attempt at glare and picked up my beloved teddy bear. My grandfather gave me this bear when I was only 9. It's especially memorable because he gave this to me a month before he passed away. I couldn't explain why I was so attached to this piece of cotton, but some things just couldn't be explained. Perhaps, I've been longing for my grandpa. After all, I was so close to him.

Growing up, it seemed like he was the only one who understood me. He would always tell me I got my strength from him, but now, I've been wondering if he was telling the truth. If I was really strong, I would've been able to get away from the nightmare I had suffered back then.

"What is this?" Alpha Parker asked again, his cold voice was music to my ears.

"Oh, this is Bubbles." I looked up at his stormy eyes, a small smile forming on my face as I remembered when I had named him.

"You named him Bubbles? Why?" Alpha Parker repeated, his voice trailing off as he looked at the stuffed bear in my hands.

"Why not? My grandpa got me this bear before he died. I used to love blowing bubbles as a kid, so that's the reason why." I frowned, a bit insulted by his question. I mean, why does he care? This bear helped me sleep even on my most stressful nights.

Pouting, I turned around.

"Alright. I guess it made sense at the time," he commented. Alpha Parker was quiet as he looked down on me, and yet again, I wondered what was running through his head.

To end the dreadful night, I walked to my bed and lay down with Bubbles. Involuntarily, my eyes shifted to the man before me. He looked as if he was spacing out.

"What are you thinking?" I asked, wanting to hear his voice again.

He looked back at me, hemming with his poker face. After a long pause, he finally replied, and I knew it wasn't what he had been thinking about. "I'm thinking that it's time for bed. Go to sleep."

Look at this man being so bitchy when I'm trying to start a conversation. Fine! I'll go to sleep, but I first muttered, "That wasn't what you were thinking."

My bravery came outta nowhere. Sure, he still frightened me, but if I was going to live with this man, I might as well fight back occasionally. I wasn't the stubborn kid for no reason. Besides, one's mate is supposed to be closer to you than anyone else, so I deserve to know who Alpha Parker is from the bottom of his heart.

"Goodnight, Alpha Parker," I said with a yawn, my eyes already beginning to close on me.

"Goodnight, my little mate." I thought I heard him reply, but I was already dozing off, so I assumed that I was hallucinating.

...

The next morning, we woke up early and gathered our luggage with not much going on. After that, we hit the road, and it only took us another hour or two until we finally made it to the Blue Moon Pack's territory. Although the ride was silent, it was comfortable. I scanned the forest through the window, slightly shivering at the sight of the unfamiliar greenery.

After about a minute or so, we finally made it to the town's center, and I found myself looking around excitedly. Although we traveled for the Ball every year, I've never got the chance to actually explore beyond our boundaries since it was dangerous. We traveled down a wide road that led directly into another patch of woods.

With my jaw wide open, I kept my gaze on the trees that we passed by. Finally reaching another clearing, I saw a very big mansion ahead. I watch as the building gets closer in awe. The Blue Moon Pack main mansion looked like an enormous town hidden deep in the woods, with other castle-like houses coating the sides. The giant steel gate at the entrance could easily fit an ogre-sized monster truck. By all means, the Blue Moon pack is loaded.

We drove through the gate, and I noticed how empty the place was. This mansion seemed absolutely desolate, with not a single person in sight. A giant marble fountain sat directly on the right side.

"I informed everyone to steer clear." Alpha Parker spoke up as if reading my mind. He didn't look in my direction, but I could feel the dominance of his words. By inform, did he mean nicely, or did he force everyone to hide before I arrived?

I shook my head to get rid of that chilling thought. Eventually, we finally pulled up to a wide driveway, luxurious cars parked in all available spots. This pack house is nothing like I expected. Unexpectedly, a guard approached us and opened the door for me. Wow, seems like my treatment won't be as bad. I hopped out and so did Alpha Parker. "Welcome to the Blue Moon pack, Ms. Aubrey," the guard said, and I felt like a very important person.

Just then, Alpha Parker appeared beside me with his usual ferocious frown. "Don't call her Ms. Aubrey. She's your Luna. Get your act straight before I banish you."

My stomach churned, and a daunting feeling crept up my system upon hearing Alpha Parker's devious words. Is he always this mad? Damn it, seems like the rumors are true after all.

This man is a beast.
