Parker's POV
The silence was deafening as I followed Aubrey's parents to their house. From the moment I met the two, I noticed their constant exchange of gazes. They seem nervous, but I can understand. I looked to my left and watched Aubrey's sleeping face. She looked as peaceful as she could be. Who would've thought that she had just encountered a fairly traumatizing night?
Going back, the drive to her modest home gave me some time to think if this would be the best course of action for me. I have been with many women, yet I've only thought of settling with one woman when I was a kid. As an Alpha, I've lived a busy life. So, I wasn't sure what to expect.
Eventually, my driver pulled up to a driveway and I looked out to see Aubrey's parents come out of their vehicle. I followed them out but made sure to carry their daughter beforehand. "C—Come in," Aubrey's mother said as she opened the door to their humble living space. It was small and rustic, but the vibe was welcoming.
Then, I followed Aubrey's mother up the stairs and into Aubrey's bedroom. When I looked around her bedroom, I was able to decipher what kind of girl Aubrey was. The dark colors of the room and the grunge aesthetic fit her stubborn personality. Upon laying her to the bed, her black hair cascaded to the pillows. Watching her sleeping face, one could truly see her innocence shine through. It made me feel bad that she would be living with us, the Blue Moon pack. I can only wonder how she'll change upon living with us.
Hemming, I quickly set myself straight, expelling all emotion for this little creature fated to spend her life with me. I glanced at her one last time and followed her mother downstairs.
The first floor of their house was bright. I looked around the small yet modest living room and found myself imagining Aubrey living in this house and how she grew up as the years passed by. I wasn't sure if she had an exciting childhood, but I sure hope she did.
I made my way to the corner, letting my eyes roam over the pictures as her family watches over me. Still, I ignored the anxious stares of her mother, father, sister, and brother. Another woman is present, which I'm assuming is her brother's mate.
My eyes flickered from frame to frame, instantly noticing the little girl who seemed to resemble Aubrey. I puckered my lips, trying my best not to laugh because her black hair used to be so short and tacky. She also had a couple of pictures in which her front teeth were absent. Striding by, I watched as she grew older, the childlike smile on her face slowly fading away into a grumpy frown. I knew Aubrey was the ideal mate, or she would not have been paired with someone like myself. I knew my heir would exceed my very reputation and build one of his own. The sound of someone clearing their throat drew me out of my thoughts.
"Wesley, Sienna, Clara, could you guys go upstairs and give us a minute?" Her mother spoke hastily, her anxious face looking between the three tense people that stood by the dining room adjacent to my spot.
I looked at Aubrey's siblings, my gaze lingering on them for a moment, wanting to see the fear flash in their eyes, and it was a success. Granted, Aubrey's brother, who I suppose is called Wesley, seemed furious. Still, he followed his parent's command and the three came upstairs.
As silence ensued, I looked back at Aubrey's parents. The terrified look on their faces amused me, and I wondered what they had to say. Would they try to stop me from taking their daughter? I don't believe Aubrey would warm up to me if I murdered her entire family, but some things must be done. No one was going to come between me and what was mine.
"Alpha Parker, it's a pleasure to meet you." I heard an uneasy, gruff voice call out to me. I listened closely to the tone and could hear the skillfully hidden fear. I turned to the left and saw Aubrey's father. Scrutinizing the fierce man, I could easily see where she had gotten many of her traits. I wonder if she also had her father's strength? Looking at the man, I noticed the scars that littered his body and wondered how many battles he had been in and how many he had lost. I watched him approach and extend his hand. He flashed a thrifty smile and I grasped his hand politely.
"So, you're Aubrey's mate..." Her mother's frightened voice trailed off, her statement sounding more like a question. From the looks on their faces, they wanted me to deny this, but I wouldn't indulge them with lies. Frankly, I wanted to see their defeated looks tonight. The worst Alpha in existence would claim their little angel's life and body for his own. How would they feel about this?
"Yes. I am." I confirmed their greatest fears and got straight to the point. "She will be leaving with me tomorrow night. Have her ready by 7 in the evening," I added, leaving no time for them to react properly. I didn't want to beat around the bush and left my explanation short, my gaze daring them to defy my wishes.
Gladly, they concurred. "S—She will be ready," her mother answered, her head lowered.
"Pleasure to hear your compliance. I would be leaving now."
Without another look in their direction, I made my way out of their home with thoughts of the future running through my mind.

Aubrey's POV
The last things I remember were the storm grey eyes and the memories of the past suffocating me. Somewhere in the mix, I could feel the sparks that enveloped portions of my body. With that, I opened my eyes to feel the sunlight streaming through my window. My face was covered with specks of light that my temples throbbed.
"Ugh..." I groaned as the events of last night started to flood my mind. If I pretended hard enough, I could simply imagine myself skipping the ball, but that's far from reality. I slowly stretched my limbs, the crackling digging my lobes. With that, my breathing hitched as the realization of me having Alpha Parker as my mate finally came into my mind.
"Shit!" I audibly cursed. I will be leaving home today to go and live with him and the Blue Moon pack! After what felt like hours, I cursed myself whilst keeping my eyes on the ceiling above me, refusing to let tears plague my vision. I could only hope the Blue Moon pack was nothing like the rumors I had heard my entire childhood.
"Well, what can I do? It's not like it will be easy to escape my fate," I said to myself to calm down.
Just then, someone knocked on my bedroom door. For a second, I felt my heart squeeze in panic, wondering if it was Alpha Parker here to drag me away to his home without letting me bid farewell to my family. "W—Who's that?" I asked and my door slowly opened. A wave of relief flooded over me as my mother peaked her head inside. For once in my life, my mother's eyes were bloodshot, as if she had been crying. I had never seen her this upset before.
"Sweetie, come downstairs after you're dressed. We need to talk."
