Song for this chapter: Dancing's Done by Ava Max
I didn't end up dealing with the text from the unknown number the next day after all. I woke up feeling sore and nauseous. That same old anxiety was still there buzzing under my skin, but I felt a new sense of paranoia slinking up my spine.
So, I decided to do what I did best and avoid it. I imagined myself shoving it down in a mental lock box, burying the box and stepping away from it. I just couldn't deal with it right now. I ended up just going through the motions at work on Friday.
Tae had been texting me almost non-stop, but I didn't reply as much as I usually do. I even asked for a rain check on a coffee shop meet up we had planned for Friday afternoon. I tried to put him off by telling him I was extremely busy this weekend with work, but he must have sensed something was off because he kept sending me memes of himself that ARMY had made.
By Sunday evening, I was feeling a tiny bit better. I did have to give some credit to Tae for that. As annoying he was being by blowing up my phone, his funny texts did make me laugh more than once, relieving some of my tension.
I was getting ready to head out to the studio when I got another text from him.
Alien
See ya soonI sent back a laughing emoji and then slid my phone into my tote bag. I stepped out of my apartment and locked the door behind me before heading to the studio. It was starting to get a little chilly at night, so I made sure to grab an oversized hoodie to throw over my usual workout ensemble of leggings and a t-shirt.
Once I got to the studio, I made my way back to my usual room, where I knew Tae would meet me. I entered the room and started my warm-up playlist.
Ten minutes later, Tae burst through the door scaring the shit out of me.
"AHH!" I screeched and whipped around mid-stretch.
Tae laughed loudly at my startled face before strolling over to my phone to shut off the music. Like always, he looked freaking hot. He was wearing some loose grey sweatpants and a white Celine shirt with the same white sneakers he wore almost every Sunday. Shit those sweats were sinful. I tried really hard to keep my eyes above his waistline, but a girl only has so much self-control. My cheeks heated up as my stolen glances landed on the faint outline of his dick.
He turned to face me fully with a lopsided boxy grin.
"You really do scare easily. Why are you so jumpy?" he asked me
I scowled at him and stomped over to give him a playful shove. "I don't know, maybe because you burst through the door like a bat out of hell!"
He chuckled and grabbed my hand. "Come here, I want to talk to you about something."
I let him lead me over to the mirror and pull me down to sit next to him. I didn't say anything as I waited for him to bring up whatever was on his mind. Anxiety was my constant companion these days but right now I was more curious than anxious. I had learned that Tae didn't take anything too seriously, so I followed his lead.
