AN: This chapter took longer than usual because I had been dealing with personal stuff; hope you still enjoy

Jack's POV(a couple of minutes earlier):

It hadn't been long since I got the ropes off, and my strength and clarity were back to normal.

I didn't know how much longer it would last, so I went to check on Gwendolyn.

"...Hello?" Her tired voice sounded through the covers, causing me to stop in my tracks, though the sudden lack of momentum made me slide, my foot colliding with the leg of the bed.

I winced as I lay on the floor, holding my foot for a second as I watched the girl continuing her conversation as if nothing happened.

As I waited for my foot to heal the smell of Julian's BO getting stronger and stronger with each second filled my nose.

To say this was bad was an understatement.

I fought through the pain and sat in the darkest corner of the room as I waited for his approach.

Although I couldn't make out his expression through the barely lit room, I could sense his urgency in his scent and breathing.

He swore before charging at her at hyper speed, which was my cue to get going.

I transformed into my wolf form before charging at him at full speed, the both of us colliding out of the window as broken glass and debris followed us on our descent.

We had to have fallen 18 feet.

I felt a piece of glass hit my shoulder as a fell, and my whole body was aching with pain.

If I were a regular human I'm sure I wouldn't have survived, though the same couldn't have been said for Julian:

Despite his injuries from getting cut by glass, he got up with almost no issue.

He went for a kick in the face, but I caught his ankle with my mouth and made him fall on his back before throwing him into some nearby bushes.

That strange smell of fear made an appearance for only a second before he came at me in a blur.

I felt myself get thrown into the air before crashing into a large tree.

The oak snapped like a toothpick under my weight, and now I had both glass and wood sticking into me.

This day just kept getting better and better, huh?

I could smell Julian getting closer to me and I turned to face him, barely able to move my body.

I was prepared for his strike and planned to take him with me–until I heard the shrill, panicked screaming of Gwendolyn's voice coming from the house.

We both looked in that direction, seeing an uncountable swarm of bats flying near the hole me, and Julian left from our spat.

My eyes widened in horror as the notion of what could be happening in that room flashed in my head.

I forced myself up and limped my way towards that way, passing Julian as I left.

As I got there, I took a good look at the place we were held in.

This had to be the very same cabin I was led to all those days ago–the same rotten wood, the same moldy smell.

Yet when I stared at the crater me and Julian left, everything inside looked new, or at least well maintained.

The mold didn't seem to affect the inner walls or floor of the place in any way.

The only thing that remotely resembled the dilapidated cabin was the window frame and glass that fell on the ground with us, its once perfectly square and shiny surface now rusted and caked in dirt.

That was nothing compared to what I witnessed afterward.

Lilia was nowhere to be found, but I could tell by the mass of bats blanketing the upper floor that his presence never left.

As the bats dragged Gwen's frantic body down to my level, I saw they covered her mouth and body, only leaving her eyes visible, which were wide with terror.

I saw her struggle helplessly as they swarmed around her body like a pack of flies, the muffled cries she emitted making me wince.

"You finally made a move," Lilia's voice cooed as it reverberated through the air and in my head. "Took you long enough."

Julian appeared beside his master, looking worn and a little irritated, though he didn't bother to meet my gaze.

Not that I cared how much that scardey asshole felt.

I was more concerned with the condition the human was in, who was suffering in front of me.

I let out a growl at the bats, my teeth bared and biting through any that got too close.

Which, in hindsight, was in vain, being that there were so many of them; even if you got two or three, another two or three would take its place.

That's the difference between a normal vampire and a High Elder like Lilia.

His irritating laughter ripped through the air as the few free bats attacked me, slashing at my mouth and body; some of them got me on my back and shoulders.

"Ah, this isn't enough," Lilia's voice rang through the air, the bats circling me, getting closer as they spun.

"Let's go inside, shall we?"

~~~~~~~~
When the bats finally freed me from their embrace, I could barely comprehend what was happening as my consciousness waved in and out.
Both my eyes and limbs felt like lead and something in the back of my head were telling me to sleep.
The voice was gentle and soft, too soft for me to tell if it was a guy or a girl, but I could tell from the burning in my nose that listening to it was a terrible idea.
I snarled as I fought to stay awake and constantly catching myself before I fell asleep.
As I forced my eyes open, I noticed the room wasn't any of the other rooms that I had seen in the house; it was a solid yellow-walled room with no windows that I could see.
The loud buzz of the bright yellow lights was enough to overwhelm my ears, though they couldn't help me in this state.
I used my nose and, aside from the burnt smell coming off my body, I could faintly detect Gwen was here, though I couldn't see her.
It didn't help that my eyes would close without my permission.
Despite my sleepiness, my heart was beating out of its chest as my mind raced for where she and I were.
Before I could reach a conclusion, Lilia's familiar laugh–and Julian's nervous smell broke me from my thoughts.
"Look at him, Julian! He thinks he can resist the powers of a vampire!" He jeered as he walked in front of me, his callous grin fully apparent.
This bastard was getting a little too much enjoyment out of this!
As he stood over me I could feel Julian's pheromones weaken, which let me regain some control over my body.
Taking this chance, I snapped at him but his vampiric reflexes were too good.
He kept his smile, though I could see a glint of murderous intent behind his eyes.
"Still able to fight after all, huh dogboy?"
