Lilia's POV:

"This is a ceremony to ensure the longevity of our people's magic, not a silly little fairytale!" I snapped.

His brows furrowed, a twinge of hurt in his eyes.

"So you don't care if I'm happy?"

My face fell and I turned away from him.

"That is not at all what I'm trying to say."

I grew serious.

"What I'm suggesting is that you need to let that human know you're the one in charge. Three months is nothing to higher beings like us, but you mustn't waste your time."

He stared down at the floor but said nothing.

I continued.

"This marriage isn't just for our powers. This is also to signify our might over the other races!"

I walked over and gently cupped his face.

"When your parents were mercilessly murdered by that horrid queen and those bottom-feeding animals, I took it upon myself to raise you.

"And what a fine boy you've become! Your strength and wisdom are unparalleled!"

I smiled as I looked into his eyes.

"You must do this for not just your sake, but our sake as well, Malleus."

He nodded.

"I understand, Father."

"So tell me what you'll do to get the human to cooperate?" I asked as I took my hands off his face.

He closed his eyes as he sighed, but only for a moment.

"I need you and Sebek to corner them. Shatter their self-worth if you must," he said unsmilingly.

I grinned at this, understanding what he was planning.

"That I can do. Shall I summon a few of my subjects to harass th-"

"No," he said quickly, his eyes narrowed, "only bites are permitted. Anything else is unacceptable."

I pretended to be hurt by pouting only to flash him a playful grin before bowing.

"Very well, my King."

Your POV:

The sun pierced your eyes, which caused you to wake up.

This shocked you since the Underworld's sky is usually a depressing grey and almost always raining.

You got up, and to your pleasant surprise, you saw the maids were nowhere to be found, which meant you and Grim could wash in peace.

Today was already off to a great start, though part of you wondered about Silver.

You then thought up that awkward moment in the bathroom where Grim saw you, and you figured he may have been too embarrassed to make his presence known, invisible or not.

After you took turns washing yourselves, you saw that a pair of fresh clothes (including undies) for yourself and a new black and green bow for Grim lay on the bed.

Once you were dressed, a servant boy greeted you and led you to breakfast downstairs.

The main hall was redecorated to look more like a buffet, which was already crowded, though you were able to get to the food selections pretty quickly.

Grim pilled his plate so high with breakfast food it looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

You shook your head at your friend's gluttony and reached for the last of the French toast when a smaller arm reached for it but stopped when your fingers grazed each other's.

You looked into the large brown eyes of the maid you had knocked into the day before.

You shared in each other's surprise, staring at each other for a moment.

Your face flushed in embarrassment and you were hoping she didn't remember you.

"H-hello," you turned away.

"Hi," she answered shyly before gesturing for you to grab the French toast.

You shook your head and allowed her to get it instead.

She took it and turned to walk away.

You were about to do the same, thinking you were home free-

"Um, you're a Child of Eden, right?" She asked suddenly, catching you off guard.

"Y-yes, I think?"

You paused, not sure what to make of the title yourself.

Though Malleus had explained it, you didn't fully understand it.

She looked down at her plate nervously.

"Oh..."

"I-I'm sorry!" You blurted out, "I didn't mean to...yesterday..."

She shook her head.

"It's okay," she said with a smile, "luckily the butler was able to help me remake some more before the House Atendents saw."

You sighed in relief, though Grim was confused by this sudden familiarity.

"Eh? Who's this?"

She gasped as if she saw the cutest thing in existence.

"A kitty!" She said as she put her hand to her smiling mouth.

This made Grim's expression turn sour.

"You better watch it, bub!" He snapped, "This here's the ultimate mage, not a kitty! Tell 'em, Y/n!"

"That there's Grim," you said much to his exasperation.

"You were supposed to tell 'er I was the ultimate mage!" He whined, which seemed to make the maid laugh.

"Let's go sit out of the way of the others," she offered as she led you and Grim to her table.

It was full of servants, though it was enough for the 2 of you.

As soon as he sat down Grim got to work on his mountain of food while you did your best to ignore him and eat your own.

That proved impossible, unfortunately.

His eating was attracting a lot of attention, the opposite of your intentions.

It was enough to make you uncomfortable.

You conked Grim on the back of the head.

"Ow-"

"You can't go pigging out like we're at home," you hissed, "or do you want those guys to mess with us?"

True enough, a small group of vampires was sitting at a table behind the maids gossiping and giggling as they watched you.
