AN: I didn't intend for this flashback to go so long; please bear with me I promise we'll be back with Y/n and Grim soon!
Shut up, I thought. Hurry up with it already. Stop with the games and just do what you're gonna do to me!
I couldn't speak due to me being in my wolf form, but I was sure Lilia got what I was thinking as his grin widened as he stared at me.
"I'm sure you must be wondering why all of this is happening, yes?" He said as he materialized a chair with his bats.
"Well, if you must know, you've earned my thanks," he smiled before summoning a cup of red liquid and a plate as he moved his hands, sipping it lightly.
His eyes lingered on me again as he searched my expression.
I'm sure he could tell I was confused as hell.
What is he thanking me for?
He set the cup down as he continued.
"I thank you because if not for your utter incompetence," he spat that last word out, "we wouldn't have been able to provide such a good lure."
My eyes narrowed for a second– then the realization hit me like a train.
The phone...
Julius must've gotten it too as I could hear him blubbering an apology but Lilia raised a hand to silence him, his grin disappearing.
"I was the one who planted the phone. Or rather hid it. Hoping that any heroes or do-gooders would try their best to hide it until the right time. All I needed was for someone to help me in securing it so the girl could send bait."
His face grew smug as he watched my ears fall.
The one thing that I didn't want, the very thing that I swore I would never let happen, came to pass by my hands.
I might have well been handing Y/n and their friends to the enemy myself.
A pathetic whimper escaped from me as I looked down, praying that whatever they had planned for me would be quick at least.
I didn't have time to marinate on that thought, though.
Lilia snapped his fingers and a swarm of bats appeared beside him, revealing to be Gwendolyn, who had her arms and legs bound by the bats as most of them held her a couple of meters off of the ground, her dark hair falling every which way and her face streamed with tears.
If she looked terrified earlier, she was that times a thousand now.
She was sobbing heavily, barely able to keep her composure as she hung from there like a candelabra.
"Somebody...help me..."
My heart nearly ripped in two when her tearful gaze fell on me, begging me to do something.
I cursed my body; even though I was conscious, the only thing I could move was my head.
The rest of my body was still under attack and I couldn't get to her even if I tried.
Not to mention two vampires were there to keep any chances of rescue even happening.
One of them, the aforementioned Lilia was as giddy as could be; it was as if this was some sort of spectacle for him.
I felt rage and nausea build up in my stomach as he clapped his hands, glaring holes into him.
My anger seemed to make him laugh harder.
He eventually stopped and stared at me as he smiled, a darkness in his eyes as he motioned the bats to fly the girl his way.
"Let's get this feast going, shall we?"
No! Don't you touch her!
My growling grew more intense as I tried to force myself to move; I knew I was no match for him but I couldn't sit there and let them take her!
I wouldn't be able to forgive myself...
Right then, the anxious scent coming from Julius grew each second, almost overwhelming my nostrils.
I stopped growling for a moment as I took it in.
Lilia's smile all but vanished as his eyes turned to his servant, who was still behind me.
"Aren't you hungry, Julian?" His question was like a warning.
Julian didn't seem to take the hint.
"Um, well, I-I don't want to t-take away from your feed–"
"Come here," there was a note of finality in his voice, his cold gaze not loosening for a second.
I heard the hurried steps of Julian's feet as he stepped over me before standing on the opposite side of Gwendolyn, who was too grievous to speak.
Lilia's grin returned, though much more wicked as his fangs showed in full force.
His bats moved to cover her mouth and expose her neck and they made their move–though Julius was far less enthusiastic than one would think.
I would have focused on it more had I not been made utterly helpless by the blood being drained from her.
Minute after agonizing minute went by as I couldn't move, couldn't even do a thing to change this situation.
And it was only going to get worse.
Y/n wasn't the type to let things go, especially when it came to their friends; he played me and Gwendolyn well.
And I was partly to blame.
The fight in me drained along with the color in her face, and my vision blurred and dizzy.
I couldn't see anything properly, and All I could hear was the buzzing of the lights.
I didn't even want to think of the smell.
I lay there, my mind and eyes blank at the realness of it all.
It wasn't like I was a stranger to death; time and time again my former comrades had been taken either by vampires or rouge beastmen–why was this so crushing?
Why did my heart ache so much?
"Oh, get up," Lilia's harsh voice cut through my mind, "we have yet to be finished with you."
I couldn't be bothered to look up at him.
I could feel a bit of that anger fill my furry chest as I thought about what happened, all of this a part of his sick gameplay.
I didn't care what he did to me at that point; part of me knew to accept it.
But there was another part of me that wanted to still try and protect Y/n.
