They hauled me upstairs into a darker corridor, the only light coming from the room on the end.

Once we got to it, they threw me near the side of the bed, its covers askew and covered in her scent–and the stinging burn of vampiric pheromones.

These pheromones were a far cry from the ones Lilia used on me.

Did they belong to Julian?

Half of my body was still numb from pain but I could make out the sound of her movements, which were uncharacteristically slow as if ripping the covers off was a chore.

The vampires left us soon afterward and as he closed the door, Lilia laughed maniacally before It shut tight.

I heard Gwen let out a loud yawn before I felt her eyes on me, which made me look up.

As we stared at each other for a second, I noticed the dark circles and drained look in her eyes, which was completely different from the fiery, defiant glare she showed me when we finally met.

My brows furrowed.

If I play my cards right, I could get her out of here and inform the news of the Draconia clan's appearance with the higher-ups of the underworld.

The only problem was that one of Draconia's strongest members was here guarding this place.

I knew escape wouldn't be easy, but with him around, it'd be practically impossible.

Lilia knew that too–that's why he put me here.

He knew I'd want to leave the moment I got to her and was testing me.

This was all some sick game to him.

The pain in my stomach grew, overriding the other pains as I regained my senses.

If only I could think up a proper plan.

I stared at the half-shaded window in front of the bed, sniffing in vain for any sign of a booby trap.

Of course, I wasn't planning on going out of it– I knew better.

I also knew how much he liked his games to be exciting, so I was gonna do the opposite.

Playing the long game was my specialty, and I was sure he wasn't planning on killing me or the girl yet until he got what he wanted.

Though, I wasn't planning on trying my luck either.

An angry vampire wasn't a good thing, especially not one that was as powerful as Lilia.

I sighed but got cut off from my thoughts when felt something hit my head.

Once it fell from my head into my lap I realized it was her cell phone, the turquoise casing not giving off any other scent but her own.

Someone's getting fired, I thought to myself with a grin.

I looked up and forced myself to move, trying my best to carefully put the phone under my leg so it couldn't be seen.

I closed my eyes and focused on nothing but healing myself, arteries, vocal cords, and whatever else was damaged was closed up in a couple of minutes.

I felt like I had just woken up from a refreshing nap.

It didn't hold a candle to vampiric healing, but hey, it's better than nothing.

While I couldn't regrow a whole limb, I could at least fix what was still there.

And what I still had was my sight, hearing, and sense of smell, so for the most part I was about 90% good.
