Your POV:
You woke up and found Grim curled up next to you on your pillow, his body warming your face.
You smiled; it felt like forever since you felt that warmth.
You ran your hand through his fur as you sat up.
"He really is cute when he sleeps," a familiar voice spoke plainly.
You scanned the room for a sign of Silver's presence.
"He is. I've always taken it for granted until now," your words hung on a sad note.
When he appeared at the foot of your bed, his face held an uncharacteristically pained expression, his eyes full of emotion.
His brows were twinned as he stared at you dead on, no blinking either.
It made you squirm in your bed.
"Silver?"
"Please..." He finally broke eye contact as he looked over to the sleeping Grim, "never let go of him, okay?"
"Never let go?" You parroted.
He closed his purplish-blue eyes and breathed steadily.
"I apologize," he spoke finally after reopening his eyes, his face hardened, "I have no right to make such a foolhardy request, as I am your protector. Forget it."
As if you could forget such a thing!
You looked to Grim and nodded, evening your features.
"Okay."
"Please hurry and get ready," he said as he stood like a soldier at attention, "after breakfast, you are to head to etiquette class in zero six-hundred hours."
You swallowed a groan, though you didn't bother to hide your frown.
"Can Grim come with me?" You looked at him.
"Not possible," he shook his head, "Worry not, however, as he will be under my care."
You stayed statue-like for a moment as you stared at him, not so much as breathing.
When he opened his mouth to say something, you let out a pained wail.
"No," your voice broke as your eyes grew hot from welling tears, "don't take him away from me again!"
You pleaded with him through messy tears as you hugged yourself and shook, your face and body hot from the heaving of your crying.
His eyes widened as he attempted to console you.
"Okay, okay! I'll let you keep him! Just please calm down!"
"You will?" You hiccuped.
"I promise. Just make sure he doesn't do anything to annoy the teachers."
You agreed as you wiped tears with your arm.
After he left, you silently cheered as you took a still sleeping Grim in your arms.
Your plan worked; guess those etiquette classes weren't complete bull.
You were gonna be the one to protect and look after Grim-no one else.
After the hellish attack done by that Sebek vampire, you vowed you'd never let something like that happen again.
And if it did happen, you'd be with him, and you'd go together even in death.
You rubbed his back one last time before getting ready for breakfast.
******
Etiquette class was as horrid as ever, as the teachers drilled you on which spoons and forks went with which dish.
You couldn't remember the number of times you got your hands paddled for getting a posture incorrectly.
On the bright side, they seemed completely uninterested in Grim, who slept all the way until it was over.
"When's lunch?" he asked innocently as you held him in your arms.
You giggled.
"Grim, you already ate."
"But that was forever ago," he whined.
"Hmm, lemme see what time it is."
Since they took your phone and other possessions, you had to rely on the grandfather clocks or Silver and Adel for the time.
You looked at an ornate grandfather clock standing next to a display of Knight's armor, it's wooden body gleaming beautifully from the shimmer of the sunlight.
The golden clock hands shined just as brilliantly, so much so that they almost made it hard to read the time.
"Eight o'five," you read in satisfaction as you moved back to sit on the bench.
Grim squirmed under you.
"Argh, that's all?! It feels like forever!"
"Don't worry. I'll ask Silver to fetch us some snacks once we go back, okay?"
"Eh, okay," he agreed reluctantly, laying his chin on his paw as he looked at the floor with boredom.
"Are you ready, Child of Eden?" Silver appeared almost instantly beside you, which caused you and Grim to let out a yelp.
You almost fell off the bench took Grim with you.
After he got reprimanded by Grim for scaring them for the umpteenth time, Silver lead them downstairs back to their room.
Surprisingly, food was already waiting for you, as two picnic baskets sat on the bed neatly, the various smells making their way to your nose, which made your stomach grumble.
Grim freed himself from your grip as he ran up to the baskets, diving through the checkered napkins to search the contents.
"Ooh, there's some good stuff in here!" Grim's voice was slightly muffled.
You sighed but kept your smile as you went to help him with the baskets before realizing Silver was still there.
He was staring at Grim with an expression you couldn't discern.
"You okay?" you offered, placing a hand on his forehead.
"Huh-" he flinched back, but blinked away the strange look as his face morphed into its usual stoic mask.
"Apologies," he said with a bow, "I was lost in thought, I'll leave you to your eating-"
"Wait, Silver," you grabbed his arm as his body grew transparent, "why don't you come join us?"
