The hall was dark, save for a few candle-lit lights that hung on its walls.

The eerie green glow of its flames reminded you of a scene in a movie where a Medieval knight was in the middle of the main villain's lair, just about to defeat its pet dragon.

The skulls that lay on the few tables that were on the corners of the hallway didn't help.

If it weren't for Malleus being here you wouldn't imagine ever setting foot in such a hallway.

He was about to continue when you pulled on the helm of his shirt.

"I...I think I can walk now."

His eyes widened for a moment.

"Perish the thought," he spoke calmly, "you're still covered in wounds. It would be ill-mannered of me to make you walk while you're in such a state."

He then continued his walk.

You frowned again but didn't argue, though the idea of being helped like this made you uncomfortable.

Similar to the maids, it felt like you were being coddled.

You weren't exactly thrilled about another stranger seeing your exposed body either.

You also weren't thrilled about finding out how he was planning to heal your bite wounds.

You saw in a vampire flick a while back where the love interest had gotten herself injured badly from a vampire attack and the good vampire had licked her wounds-the thought of Malleus doing something similar made your skin crawl.

You weren't even sure what a vampire's tongue would feel on your skin-would it be ice cold or warm?

Would it be rough or smooth?

Would it even feel good-

You slapped your hands to your face as you felt your cheeks grow hot, trying to slap such thoughts out of your head.

You heard a deep chuckle escape Malleus's mouth, watching you before he walked towards a door with dragon-shaped markings around its threshold, the door opening the moment he got close.

To your surprise, the room was as big and spacious as yours was, though with more decorations.

The king-sized bed was filled to the brim with dark green and black pillows over a beautiful black cover embroidered with light green markings on its edges.

Small statuettes of lizards were on either side of the room-one under the window and the other guarding a dark purple chest next to the closet.

The mirror on top of the dresser desk was much bigger than yours, and it was adorned with small green embroidery as well.

The one window was large and lined with black satin curtains.

It lacked the dread and doom that you expected from a vampire's bedroom and was more like a normal, albeit more gothic bedroom.

He carefully set you on the bed before making his way into the bathroom.

"Where's the coffin?" You blurted out, though you immediately regretted it when he stopped in his tracks.

Your heart sank when he turned towards you, but he didn't seem offended by your words.

"They had to move it in the basement as it was too big to fit in here."

You studied him for a moment to see if he was joking or not.

When he didn't clarify you opened your mouth but he cut you off with a laugh.

"My goodness, you humans are so tense! You mustn't heed me so readily."

Feeling betrayed, you pouted and turned away.

"Please don't be angry with me," his gentle voice pleaded, keeping his smile, "I'll give you a gift if you forgive me?"

You sighed and turned towards him, silently nodding at his gesture.

"Vampires used to need coffins to protect themselves from Sunlight among those who would want them dead," he explained as he went into his bathroom, flicking the light.

"Those were the days of old, however. Due to my ancestors forming pacts with your ancestors, the Eden Clan, we were able to evolve to such a point that coffins were unnecessary."

You heard him rummage through something before he came back out with an unlabeled clear jar of green gel.

He handed it to you.

"What's this?"

"A serum to help with vampire bites."

You unscrewed the lid and were met with an odor so hideous it made you gag.

You looked at Malleus again who seemed humored by your reaction.

"It was either this or licking them myself," he said as a mischievous grin formed on his face.

He leaned towards your face.

"Or would you prefer that instead?"

Your face went beet red.

"A-absolutely not!"

He laughed at your protest.

"That serum works best with clean skin. While you wash I shall have the maids fetch you something to wear."

As you wandered into the bathroom you set the gross-smelling serum and closed the door.

You realized how dirty you were and decided to take a quick shower.

The soap and water stung your wounds as they hit your skin, but you felt better now that the mud and grime were out of your hair and body.

You reluctantly rubbed the thick jello-like substance on the bitemarks of your stomach, which burned tremendously.

You weren't sure if you wanted to put it on the others, but once the burning dyed down, the aches followed and the marks were gone.

No pain no gain.

Deciding that the ointment was worth the bad smell and pain, you continued to slather it on the other parts of your body.

Once you were done, you heard a knock on the bathroom door and walked over to open it a crack.

White and red bunny pajamas were slipped through the crack of the door and you gladly put them on.

This beat having to go to bed in your underclothes like last time, as they were as soft as a cloud.
