It didn't take long for you to get better, and soon enough you were downstairs enjoying breakfast with the servants.
"Adel should be here soon enough," one of the servants explained as she enjoyed a bowl of oatmeal, "she was helping the others with cleaning the guest rooms."
You nodded, trying your best not to spill the soup in your spoon since your grip was still unsteady.
After you ate with each other you asked if she could continue the tour, and she gave you a strange look.
"Are you sure you should be doing that since, well, y'know?"
You smiled, which caused her to raise her brows.
"Don't worry. I've got some protection."
She blinked at you but said no more as she got up from her table.
"I did promise you I'd have you meet my great-grandparents," she remarked quietly, almost too quietly as you had to lean in to hear what she had said.
As soon as the two of you got to the hallway a group of people in silver armor appeared out of thin air and followed you.
Adel's brows pinched at their swift and sudden arrival.
"Uh?!"
"His Majesty has ordered us to guard you both until our Honored Guest has gone into their room," one of them answered swiftly--their voice sounded familiar though their face and voice were masked by the embroidered helmet they wore.
She raised her brows as she turned to you, not saying a word.
You returned a smile, patting her back gently.
"I can't wait to meet them."

The servant's lodging quarters loosely resembled a navy hot racing berth with cubicles separating each "room" and a curtain for privacy.
One servant boy was in the middle of changing and scrambled to cover his cubicle room once he saw you and Adel.
It was a huge contrast to the elegant and comfortable living space of the rooms upstairs, as the walls were a dull beige compared to the flavorful yellows, greens, and blacks of your room, and the hardwood floor was unpolished and had a few nails and loose wood poking out of its many crevices.
The soldiers surrounding you were so well hidden that you bumped into one of them multiple times.
As you head deeper into the lodging quarters you noticed clusters of fake candles surrounding either side of you.
The closer you went to the corner of the hallway, the more the candles doubled in number.
The smell of incense hit your nose, the aroma reminiscent of the field of lavenders.
A part of your heart tugged at the memory of that time, though you shook it away; there would be no time for that.
"Come, friends!" a cheerful voice chimed down the hallway.
Once you made it to the corner a woman and man sat at the bottom bunker while the man held a candle.
Their bunks looked nothing like the others you had seen; while the other's curtains were plain and lacking in color, theirs had a fanciful brocade pattern with silk throw pillows on either bunk.
The bunks themselves seemed to take up more room than the others and had a nearby toilet, shower and sink with a matching curtain.
The couple sitting on them were dressed in a vaguely 70s hippie style, with tie-dyed shirts and scarves wrapped around their heads.
The woman looked like a middle-aged version of Adel, though the little bit of blonde on her head was fading to white, while the man had a thick head of dark brown hair and a scruffy beard to match.
"Great-granny! Great-grandpa!" Adel beamed as she hugged them.
You blinked, but didn't say anything.
Adel turned to you while holding a bubblier disposition as she placed her arms around her great-grandparents' shoulders.
"Y/n, these are my great grandparents!" Adel said cheerfully.
Confusion spreading across your face, you opened your mouth to say something but couldn't think of anything that wouldn't come off as rude.
The great-grandmother smiled sweetly.
"It's okay, darling," she spoke assuredly, "Xander and I are used to that reaction. We're vampires, you see-"
You froze at her response for a second until you remembered your bodyguards were nearby and could swoop in at a moment's notice.
The woman and her husband looked at each other for a moment before she asked if you were okay.
"We'd never attack a Child of Eden," Xander assured, "especially seeing as you've made friends with our great-granddaughter."
"Sorry about that," you apologized, but the couple's smiles didn't waver.
"No need to," the woman said, "you have a right to be cautious, after all."
After a moment of calming down, you raised a brow, curious as to how Adel could be a servant if she was related to vampires.
"Well, me and Rhea were turned at a certain point in time," Xander explained as he caressed his wife and granddaughter.
"For us, it was when we had Adel's grandparents. For others, it was as soon as they were taken here."
You stared at them, a familiar pain welling up in your stomach.
You wondered if you were the only one brought down here before, but this revelation was heart-breaking.
At least they were taken together.
Not only that, but they got a loving family out of it.
A part of you wondered what this could mean—why were the vampires taking so many people and turning them?
