I arched my back immediately, teeth bared and claws out.

"If you think you're gonna hurt me you got another thing coming!" I gritted out.

The horned guy just cocked his head at me calmly, his expression blank under the dim light of the lamps behind him.

"Hurt you?" He then smiled warmly as he bent to sit down the rocking chair behind him, "why on Earth would I be so rude to an honored guest?"

I stared at him before I stood and put my paws on my hips.

"Honored?! Your stupid henchman almost killed me and my own henchman!"

"Please don't blame the master," the silver-haired guy that's always becoming invisible spoke behind me, "the fault lies within me."

I turned to gape at the horned guy who gave me an apologetic look, his brows twinned as he placed a pale hand on his forehead.

"No, Silver, the cat-"

"Not a cat!"

"-is right. If I had acted sooner, I would have been able to have stopped Sebek before he had that outburst. But I'm working on rectifying it."

I blinked at him.

This guy's weird! He's the guy who's behind this mess, yet he's being all nice-like and apologizing to me.

Not that I wasn't gonna take advantage of that.

"Hmph, if you're really sorry, then gimme something to eat!"

I tapped my belly.

"Thanks to you waking me up, I've gotten hungry!"

"...Is food all you think about?" Silver asked emotionlessly.

The horned guy didn't seem to mind.

"Ah, of course!"

He clapped his hands and a lidded platter appeared in front of me.

"Anything you need, just ask, little one," he said with a smile.

Curious, I sniffed the plate and lifted the lid just enough so I could get a better whiff.

"What is it?"

"Go ahead and lift it to find out," he answered readily.

Without hesitation I took the lid clean off and my eyes almost popped out of my skull as I saw what it was:

A whole BBQ glazed turkey, just like the one in my dreams!

It glistened like bronze, and just like in my dream, I could see the rub of herbs and spices.

It was lying on a bed of lettuce and cut pineapple, which looked fresh and ready for eating.

"No way!"

I bit into it, my mouth already salivating.

My tongue was hit with a barrage of sweet-and-savoury goodness.

"Ah, the spices dance in my mouth," I said between bites, "they add a kick without being overwhelming. And the BBQ glaze tastes of honey...is this honey from the Shaftlands?"

"The very same," the horned guy confirmed as he nodded his head, "this one in particular's glaze is made specifically from Fleur City."

I whistled.

"Your chefs know your stuff! It's really gentle, yet filling, and it doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste or film like some turkeys I had at the surface."

He chuckled.

"Glad you like it."

I felt some fingers rub my ears and hissed without turning my head.

"Oi! Hands off!"

"But you're so cute when you eat," the silver-haired guy said without emotion, his hands still on my ears.

I groaned and returned eating.

I polished the turkey in the next few minutes and laid on my back in satisfaction.

"Whew, that hit the spot!"

"Grim," the horned guy began, his hands in his lap, "will you become my friend?"

I was too distracted by his weirdo henchman rubbin' my stomach.

"Huh-?"

I sat up and looked into his lime-green eyes.

They were so warm and welcomin'...

Why did I dislike this guy again?

I felt myself relax as I stared at him.

"Won't you become my friend?" he repeated.

"Uh, sure..."

My feet moved on their own, heading towards him as I climbed into his lap.

I didn't mind it.

His hands were so soft as he rubbed my head and back, and I felt so calm.

"You see," he spoke much more solemnly this time, "I'm having difficulty with getting close to Y/n."

I looked up at him, worry pricklin' my stomach.

"I'm trying to help them. I want to help them, but I need help. Your help," he ended his statement with a big smile.

I mirrored it.

"Just say the word, buddy!"

He chuckled again, but something flickered in his eyes that I couldn't place before that warmth returned.

"I need you to make sure they don't leave. Not yet, at least. Can you handle it?"

"Of course! You got it!"

I was excited.

I knew I could do it, anything for him.

When he smiled at me I felt a nice tingle in my body...

My lids felt heavy all of a sudden, and wave of exhaustion I never felt before came over my body.

I yawned, his hands moving to my ears and back, making the tiredness grow.

"Thank you so much, Grim. I owe you," he said gently as he stared into me with his eyes slightly glowin'.

They were the last thing I saw before I felt myself drift into Dreamland...
