Jokes On You

You're both late to lunch but find everyone sitting at a table chatting away. "- said what to her?" Sunshine has her arms folded glaring at Terzo.
You silently slip into a chair and start eating wondering what he's done now.
Terzo looking sheepishly at Sunshine "Good riddens" Sodo pipes up stabbing his pie with his fork. Rain nods along.
"Is this about Emily?" You look from Sunshine to Terzo.
She nods. "I was hoping you'd see the light eventually" you mumble. "She was horrible to us" you say looking over at Copia.

Cumulus looks over at you, "what did she say?".
"Oh just that we could bond over being orphans, stupid really". You pause and look over at Copia, "What did you call her by the way?".

He chokes on his food, "whore" he coughs. Terzo bursts into laughter.
"Honestly" Cirrus shakes her head rolling her eyes.
"If you like her so much why don't you go after her then?" Aether shrugs grinning.
Cirrus picks up her uneaten banana and throws it at him, "bitches like you arent my type". You to snort with laughter, he peels the banana and starts eating, winking at her.

You all end up in the senior common room finishing off homework.
Mountain groans, "algebra is fucking stupid" and slams his book shut.
You're sitting cross legged on an armchair nearest a window, you lift your pen off the paper you're writing for Cardinal Aio, eyes wandering to the window watching birds flutter around the top branches of the closest tree and zone out.
C has to tell Terzo eventually, surely their friendship will be fine if he explains properly. They're both so goddamn stupid though. Imperator can't force him to do the ritual... Can she? She can't force Terzo not to? Not unless Papa agrees, surely he'd want the best for his brother.... Who is also Copia now. 'Spose it doesn't matter if the eyeball thing happens regardless, everyone will find out, this weirdness is way out my league......What the......
You lean over and open the window "Hey! Find your own nest asshole" you shout at the crow attacking a smaller bird. It flies off. You make a noise of accomplishment.

When you sit back down everyone's giving you a strange look. "There was a- nevermind" shaking your head, your friends giggle at you.

You stop being able to focus after writing 2 pages of a book report you're not interested in. You close your book and rest your head on the back of the armchair staring at the ceiling.

"Anything interesting up there?" Terzo asks. "Yeah, actually" you point upwards, he moves closer to you, head level with yours looking up.
"If you squint you can see your lost brain cells floating around" you bite your lip holding in laughter. You hear everyone burst into laughter around you both.
Terzo moves his head very slowly back down so his face is in front of yours staring straight into your eyes.
"You tease too much" he whispers smirking at you, his eyes not leaving yours. You poke your tongue out at him, flattening your hand on his face and push him backwards, "go away" you tell him laughing as he falls backwards.

You get up and move next to Copia grabbing his left hand and looking at his watch, "5 minutes to dinner" you announce to the group, you turn and smile at him but he's giving you a strange look you can't read.
"Thank Satan" Sodo grumbles closing his text books.
Cumulus, Sunshine and Cirrus all simultaneously stretching their arms out.

You eat dinner slowly, in and out of thoughts of your conversation with Copia.
"What's going on with you?" Rain asks quietly, you look at him in sitting next to you in shock, "What?" You tease holding your hand up to your ear smiling at the ghoul who rarely speaks up. He rolls his eyes at you.
"Nothing" you mumble shovelling food into your mouth so you don't have to talk.
"Whatever, I can practically hear your brain ticking over" he says pushing his dark hair out of his face. You and Copia glance at each other, you quickly avert your eyes to your plate.

"Oh, you here with your ghoulfriends y/n".
You turn around its Emily and her friends, she laughs "Nice one Mallory".
"Did you and rat boy kiss?" Emily makes kissing noises. The girls laugh together like it's the funniest thing.
"Awh did we make you sad, orphan?" Emily laughs as you turn back around.
Copia slams his cutlery down, pure anger burning on his face.
"Perdersi cagna" Terzo scowls at them folding his arms over his chest.
"Oh I love how you speak Italian when you're angry" Emily coos giggling.
She leans down to you, "It's so hilarious, that you think your sooo cool hanging out with Ghouls and Papas moron baby brother. Orphans like you are just trash, no one actually likes you" she stands back up, folds her arms smirking looking between you and Copia.
You look up and all the Ghouls eyes are glowing various colours, their faces, ones of anger, just cottoning on to the fact it relates to their elements you start giggling at your complete idiocy having not realized sooner.
Everyone's watching you like you've just gone insane.
Mountain stands up "Fuck off before I tell Imperator that you're not respecting the school values." He hisses.
"Oh you're going to tell on me?" she pouts dramatically. "Imperator loves me, giant" she smiles.
"I can't tell of you're brave or just stupid" Aether says leaning back into his chair studying her.
"Emily, were done, you can fuck off now" Terzo glares at her.
"Oh, you think I give a shit about you?" She points at him and breaks into hysterical laughter.
You turn back around to Emily, pulling strength from sitting with your friends, feeling protected and even genuinely liked for the first time.

"Do you know what's funny?" You stand up to face Emily and her friends.
"I am here with my friends, i'm sure Mallory and..." you start making up names for girls you dont care to know, "Barbie, Raggedy Anne and the Cabbage Patch twins are great but I have C, Terzo and literal demons from hell on my side" you pause watching their goldfish mouths open and close.
"Jokes on you" you shrug turning back around to sit down again.
Mountain joins you sitting as well, not before squeezing your shoulder gently.
Emily leans down to you, "your demons won't always be around to save you".
Rain turns to her slowly, "You might want to re-think that", all the ghouls are staring at her, eyes glowing menacinlgly.

There is absolute silence as she walks off, apparently other tables were listening in as well.
Your table suddenly erupts into applause and laughter. You look up and Terzo winks at you laughing along with everyone.
"That was amazing" Cirrus claps.
"You've changed your tune" Aether laughs at her.
"You should have seen their faces when they walked off" Sodo shakes his long hair out of his face still laughing. Sunshine is giggling with Swiss.
Rain pulls you into a side hug quickly.
You look over at Copia who's smiling at you, he squeezes your hand making you blush.

You cant shake off her last comment though, was it a threat?
