The next few weeks go by quickly. Everyone around you excited for the Hunters Moon ball but you just can not focus. The closer the ball gets the closer the damn ritual gets.
You know you've become distant with everyone, trying to focus your mind on school work so you dont think about anything else. You stopped going to mass, you havent joined the parties. To be honest any time you look at Terzo or Copia you imagine their death and it breaks your heart all over again. It's easier just to ignore it all and avoid them all.
Friday week before the ball, after classes you have a quick dinner before heading to to your room. You've taken to eating what you can and then running back to your dorm hiding from the world.
You're sitting on your bed when the door opens. Cumulus, Cirrus and Sunshine walk in. "Enough of this" Cirrus takes your book out of your hands and dumps it on your bedside table. "Get up" Sunshine says grabbing your arm. Cumulus throws a pile of clothes at you, "Get changed" she orders pointing to the bathroom. "Guys I.." "No, get changed" Cumulus orders again. You groan and walk into the bathroom and get changed.
You walk out "Now what?". They smile. "Come on" Cumulus grabs you and drags you out. You try to stop and go back when you realise where they're taking you. "Cumulus I cant" you say gritting your teeth.
"What are you scared of?" She asks angrily. "We all accept you, we always have, regardless of whoever the hell your parents are". It sounds like she's been keeping that in for a while. "That's not.." "You can't run from everything, you have friends and a boyfriend that miss you, please just come with us" she practically begs. You sigh and nod.
You make it, hidden behind the girls in the garden, no one sees you at first. Cirrus hands you a drink, you take a deep drink from it following them. They always gather around the boombox to dance. You sit on the ground next to a tree and watch them. Cumulus sees you and raises an eyebrow shaking her head at your pathetic attempt to continue hiding.
"Hello stranger". You didn't see Rain behind you, he sits down next to you. He studies you for a moment, "It's going to be ok". You look over at Terzo and Copia who are with Mountain, Aether, Astrid and her friends, they are laughing about something, Aether moves to the side and you see Swiss and Sodo acting out something ridiculous to them.
Sodo's eyes glow red as they lock with yours, he stands up straight muttering something. You look back at Rain, "You don't know that". You get up without saying anything else and walk the path to the exit.
"Hey, please dont go". You turn to see Copia puffing having had to run to catch up to you. Your eyes move across his face and your heart shatters for the millionth time. You look behind him, everyone is watching for a minute before awkwardly going back to what they were doing before.
You glance back at Copia, I cant do this. You turn to leave but he grabs your wrist. "No, this isn't fair" he mumbles. "I thought we were ok and then you avoid us all for weeks". You avert your eyes from his. "Everyone told us to give you space and we have.... Please don't leave". He begs.
Even his voice crushes you. You make the mistake of looking at his face again, his eyes full of hurt. "I'm really sorry" you mumble looking at your feet.
He let's go of your wrist running his hand slowly up your arm setting off goosebumps. He steps closer caressing your face, you lean into his hand. He tilts your head up but you keep your eyes closed, "look at me" he whispers pleadingly. Your eyes open moving slowly up to his. "You dont need to be sorry." He says when your eyes land on his.
It's like looking into the sun, it hurts too much. "I dont want to lose you" you say quietly on the verge of more tears you didn't think was possible. "I was scared I'd already lost you" he mumbles as he leans in to kiss you.
The butterflies make their way through your body. He starts off gentle but as you let him wrap his arms around you it's like he's become desperate to keep you there and your lips respond to his equally. Either one wanting to be the one that breaks free first. So you dont, the kiss has stopped but you stay close, arms around each other, lips still touching. It's not until your breathing starts to slow back down that he lifts his head back up, kissing your forehead softly.
Copia grabs your hand and starts leading you back. "Wait". He stops and looks at you. "Is it going to be weird now?" You mumble. He chuckles, "No, the only one being weird, is you", he smiles at you. You nod and let him drag you back.
"Sorellina!" Terzo smiles putting an arm around you and squeezing. You smile weakly back at him. Copia doesn't let go of your hand the entire time.
You stay for a little bit not drinking much, you look down at Copia's hand in yours. Your eyes travel up to his face, he's watching you, he tilts his head asking a question without words. "I'm just tired" you tell him. He nods and starts saying goodnight to everyone.
You walk to your dorm together in silence. He opens the door for you, both walking in. He glances at the mess of school work on your bed, "Cumulus said you were devoting every second to school" He smirks shutting the door. "Its better then thinking about other things" you shrug looking at the mess avoiding his gaze.
Copia stands there, hands in his pockets looking around awkwardly. He's so cute. You smile to yourself but he catches it, "What?". "You're cute", you mumble softly gathering your schoolwork into a pile to sit on your bed. He walks over sitting with you.
"I was going to wait until the ball, but, its seemed more urgent lately, and then... you know.. you disappeared on us-" You frown, "I didn't disappear, i just didn't hang around" you mumble interrupting him. He raises a brow at you, "Same thing, amore!" he sighs. He digs into his jacket pocket for a moment and pulls out a tiny black box. He takes your hand and places the box in it. You open it and look up at him. "Its a promise ring" he smiles weakly taking it out of the box. You chuckle at him as he pulls your hand closer mumbling to himself trying to find a finger that it fits on, it fits your middle finger "Thank Satan" he sighs.
You look at it, it's a thin gold band with three gems, white, grey and black. He points at the gems, "It reminded me of Primo, Secondo and Kevin", he grins. You burst into laughter, he watches you silently until you stop.

His smile drops slightly, he takes your hand, "I want it to be a reminder that i promise that i'm not going anywhere". You nod staring at your hands. "I need you to promise me something" he says squeezing your hand. You look up at him. "Dont disappear on me again". You open your mouth to retort but he stops you, "Please?!". You sigh and nod. "I promise". "Ti amo" "Anchovy ti amo? ... I cant remember" You shake your head. "I love you too". "Anchovy?!" Copia bursts into laughter pulling you over to him. You wrap your arms around his neck as he kisses you and everything feels like its finally back to normal.
