"I thought you were stronger than that." Loki mocked from beside you when the soldiers left. "Three of The Einherjar enough to take you out?"
You didn't answer. Honestly, you didn't know what to say, you were still trying to piece together how you ended up in the same cell as him so his attempt at getting a rise out of you found deaf ears.
Shuffling to stand up, your back was still painfully sore from the shocks they used to disarm you and your hand shot out to dull your inevitable collision with the wall as your legs threatened to give out, sending you mercilessly to the right. It still didn't feel good when you made contact with a hiss, a small jolt of agony traveled from your fingers and spread throughout your whole body in a matter of a second, earning another yelp from you.
Some blood would've put you right back on your feet.
The airy sound of a chuckle slid your eyes to his, the look of a wounded beast present on your face, whereas meeting you was his hint of a smirk.
"You have something to say?" You spat.
For a moment, he remained unmoving, the only thing that moved were his eyes sizing you up without same. Suddenly his eyes lit up and he let the previous smirk out on full display. "Plenty, actually."
Seeing you realize that he referred back to the night at Stark's party when you answered the almost same to him drew his lips wider, revealing his pearly teeth. Thinking back to that moment, a sense of yearning washed over you. You remembered his soft lips pressing against your jaw, the way his blue eyes scanned your face hungrily and how he'd pushed you against that wall in the alley while he didn't seem to be able to resist your taste. Angrily snapping out of this haze you sent him a mocking smile before you looked away and shook your head, both trying to sober up and show him how unimpressed you were with his comment.
For those months after successfully defending New York you thought that you'll never see him again. You thought that your answers were forever gone, yet now you have met his mother who provided you with a suggestion on why you had those dreams, and also the hard-to-forget fact that you'd gotten locked up in the same cell as him.
When you looked back at him, instead of the power thirsty conqueror, you saw a scared boy hiding behind a mask and if what Frigga told you was correct he had to go through something soul shattering to contact your mind as a last hope. You also remembered that she'd said that Loki at most times would rather hide behind his magic than ask for help. Again, he displayed a strong, confident guy but was he just playing one?
Bursting your bubble of thought, he called you out. "Admiring my undeniable beau-"
"Shut up."
In the next hours that came and limped by he didn't say a word and neither did you. You were certain that Thor would come to get you any minute but as hour stretched after hour a seed of worry began to sprout in your chest, thinking what if he got hurt, or if no one informed him about your sudden and unjust imprisonment.
You and Loki seemed to divide the cell in two, neither of you feeling the need to be smitten with the other. Well, you caught yourself multiple times, almost opening your mouth to lighten the gloomy mood that the thick silence caused. You hated silence...
The brightness and constant buzzing of the force field separating you from the outside word quickly made you loose concept of time. With the quietness of the whole prison your ears soon accustomed to eagerly latch onto every small sound that echoed through the corridors and bounced from the walls. At first, you'd get spooked when someone moved, maybe your delicate sense of hearing didn't help either, but as you learned what to expect it all soon became comforting. But even these sounds couldn't ease the faint but very evident tension that lurked between you and Loki.
