"You sure this is your sister?" Tony's skeptical tone caused a humorless chuckle to run from your lips.
"She used to be. Not anymore."
The creature she formed into lay motionless on a metal table in front of you. A strange sense of melancholy surrounded you as you looked over her dead body. But this meant freedom, this meant salvation.
"So... you killed her?" The billionaire asked, his voice emotionless. He was standing by your side, holding his nose.
He allegedly was the first to come to the scene of the explosion, finding you unconscious, next to the body of what was now in front of you two. He said that only you were there, no, casualties, no humans dead. Just you, laying there, looking as pale as ever.
"No, she kicked my ass." She did.
"That bitch. Should've waited for me to come." His hand sneaked around your shoulder. He has continuously expressed how relieved he was that you didn't have a scratch on you.
You too. Only you were too emotionally messed up to admit anything now.
You just let your head rest against his as he pulled the cover over it.
"Burn it." You ordered.
"What?"
"Burn it, nuke it and throw the remains into a volcano." Through clenched jaw, and tense body you took a step away.
"But we should run test and-"
"Did I stutter?" You cut in, voice cold. "I'm serious, Stark. She'll resurrect herself if you don't. Fucking cockroach, never dies." You stepped over the doorstep and walked towards the kitchen.
Thor, who had been walking on tiptoes around you since you came back to it, was now anxiously circling you.
"What do you want, Thor?"
The blonde god sheepishly avoided your gaze. His body slumped.
"I- I can't find my brother..."
To the thought, a cold shiver ran through you. Although your memories were a little hazy you did remember him saving you, his ring on your finger proved that, but more so you remembered the way he attacked you in the cafe. Mean and unrecognizable.
"If he doesn't want to be found he won't be." You spat but then softened your tone. "Don't worry."
He took a tentative step your way, meeting your eyes for a second.
"I'm afraid he'll give into his dark thoughts without guidance. He was on such a light path and now-""-Leave him alone. And leave me alone too."
The door was what you aimed for but he stood in your way, worry etched on his face. "No, you don't understand."
A long forgotten aggression tensed your muscles as you stared him down. "Oh but I do. Get out of my way."
"No."
"Piss off Thor."
"I won't!" He protested.
"Don't make me hurt you."
"Thor, let her go." Tony spoke softly from behind you and Thor reluctantly stepped away, letting you pass him. He murmured, knowing you would hear him.
"I thought you were his friend..."
You thought that too. Maybe you thought you were more but it didn't matter anymore. He wasn't here.
———
"What do you mean you're leaving?"
"It means I'm done, Tony. I wasn't designed for this." Your bag was nearly full now. Full of pictures and gadgets you gathered all along the years. Too many painful reminders of why you should have never settled.
