Hotch's POV:
"Reid." I say trying to get his attention and Morgan nudges him awake.Reid awakes with a startle and he's breathing heavily. He has sweat dripping down his forehead and looks confused. I've never seen him like this before.
"You look like you saw a ghost, kid." Dave states and Reid just gulps.
I expect him to retort with some intelligent comeback, but he just rubs his eyes and the sweat off his face.
"I'm fine." Reid huffs.
"What's going on with you?" I ask him once we're off the jet and alone.
"Nothing." Reid shrugs but I don't move from my spot, blocking the door.
"Reid, this is the 3rd time you've woken up like this in a week." I counter and he gulps looking at the ground.
"I can't have people out in the field if there's something going on." I explain and he doesn't even try to look innocent.
"I've been having these reoccurring dreams with the same guy." Is all he says and I wait for him to continue.
"Do you know who he is?" I ask.
"I've never seen him in my life Hotch. I would've remembered if I had." He states, clearly freaked out and I cross my arms.
"Does this man say anything to you in your dreams?" I ask.
"Just that he's checking up on me." Reid shrugs, but I can tell there's something he's hiding.
"What is it?" I ask.
"I heard his voice...once...when I was awake." He states.
"When?"
"When I was being held captive by the Professor who was killing people for his religious book." Reid explains and now I'm confused.
"I thought you said-.
"I didn't see him. My head was pounding and I had to close my eyes to ease the pain. I felt a rough hand on my forehead and the pain vanished. I know how it sounds-." He starts explaining.
"There were only 3 people with you in the room when we found you."
"I know, he just disappeared." Reid states, clearly trying to still wrap his head around it.
"When was the first time you had the dream?" I ask, not bothering to ask how he left the crime scene without anyone seeing him.
"Our case with those two other detectives. I thought I was awake and then I heard his voice. I turned and saw him standing there. He said I was dreaming, but it didn't feel like I was." Reid explains.
"You could see him clearly?" I ask and he nods.
"How about I get you with a sketch artist when we get back, maybe putting a name to the face will help your dreams subside." I offer and he gulps, but nods his head.
I don't know what else to say to him because I know for a fact that if he had seen this man before the dreams, he would've remembered him.
"Hotch, there's something else..." Reid says pulling me from my thoughts.
"What is it?" I ask.
"The man in the dream said that there's a girl who is looking out for us, that that was why he was checking up on me." Reid explains and I have a strange feeling of dejavú come over me.
I've had it multiple times where I thought I was being watched, or that someone was in my apartment when I wasn't there. Some minor thing had been moved to a different spot or just gone. At first I thought I was misplacing things but then it suddenly stopped.
