Town

I get a call from Hotch, telling me to meet him at the office. I get to the bullpen and see Hotch leaning against my desk. He looks up and sees me and motions for me to follow him to his office.

After I enter he closes the door and shuts the blinds, and I know whatever he has to tell me is serious. He walks over to his desk and picks up a folder and flips through it a little bit.

"You've been temporarily reassigned." He says the last thing that I would've thought of.

"What? What the hell are you talking about?" I scoff not understanding.

"You're going undercover as a new police officer, in a small town in California." He states and hands me the file.

I open it up and see a newish ID but it has my real name listed still. Beacon Hills is the name of the town and is quite small, considering how populated California is. It says I'm assigned to work under a Sheriff Stilinski.

"Why am I being assigned here?" I ask, not seeing much relevance for FBI involvement.

"The Director is assigning multiple agents to multiple precincts around the US. He saw your credentials and age and figured it was a perfect fit."

"So, we're spying on our own people now?" I scoff, surprised that Hotch is asking me to be a rat.

"It's just to help with getting paperwork properly updated and making sure there's no bad apples. Like I said, it's temporary. A month or so at the most." He explains and I roll my eyes.

"Whatever." I mutter and hand him my gun and badge, knowing he wouldn't tell me about this ahead of time, giving me a chance to make a run for it.

"I'll check in on you every week. See how things are going." He promises and I sigh.

I let Fitz know over the phone. He wishes me luck, clearly not happy that I'm leaving again, but he knows he can't interfere.

I get off the plane and catch the bus out of the airport. I sit by the window and close my eyes to the rhythm of the wheels hitting the pavement. Soon I'm lulled off to sleep, forgetting everything around me.

I wake up to someone tapping my shoulder and look up and see that it's the bus driver. I look around and see that I'm alone on the bus with him and huff, knowing that I'm soon going to be working in a small sheriff's office in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere.

"Last stop. Beacon Hills." He says and I grab my bags and get off.

It's dark out now and I don't have any service on my phone. I walk down the road with my bag hanging off my shoulder, swaying at my side.

"Now what do we have here?" I hear a British voice asks from the shadows and I clench my jaw, not in the mood to have to fight someone off.

"I'm giving you one warning, go away." I answer the emptiness in front of me.

"Wow, you really convinced me." They scoff, clearly amused.

Before I can answer, a car's headlights come up into view and it stops beside me. It's a cop car. Whoever was by me is now gone, thankfully.

"Are you lost?" An older man asks from the front seat.
