"Et si vous vous blessez?" What if you get hurt? Charles asked from the bathroom as he was brushing his teeth. I had just told him that Evie would be going with me, since I apparently had missed that detail, and now he was getting all worked about the move again.
"Il y a aussi des hôpitaux à Los Angeles," There are hospitals in Los Angeles too, I replied from where I was still sitting on the bed, eating from the tray that my parents brought in earlier that morning.
Charles was getting ready to go to lunch with some of his friends, and then we'd celebrate him further in the evening with a nice dinner, upon his request, at his mom's house. So while he would be at lunch, I would help my mom bake something for dessert.
"Connais-tu bien ce nouveau partenaire?" How well do you know this partner? He asked, coming out to lean on the doorframe to the bathroom.
"Pas encore très bien, mais il a un partenariat à long terme avec une autre fille, qui ne peut pas continuer car elle est enceinte," Not very well yet, but he has a long-term partnership with another girl, who can't continue because she's pregnant, I explained, but Charles didn't seem to like that answer. He shook his head and then went into the bathroom to spit.
"Et s'il est aussi connard qu'Elliòtt?" And if he's as much of an asshole as Elliòtt? He asked, after washing his mouth and coming back into the bedroom. He was only in his pajama pants, no shirt, messy hair and the sun was shining in through the window, so when he looked at me, his eyes looked extra green.
"Alors tu seras le premier que j'appellerai pour me sortir d'ici et me ramener à la maison," Then you'll be the first one I'll call to get me out of here and take me home, I replied, getting out of bed and walking around it to be able to wrap my arms around him.
As it had hit me the day before, that the way he wants to show me he loves me is to take care of me and make sure I feel safe, it's changed my perspective a bit. Knowing his love language makes me understand all the different ways he says 'I love you' and makes me understand him more. I just need to let him take care of me, and I'll know it's because he loves me, and he gets to show his love the way he wants to.
He turned to face me, looked down and kissed my forad. I had my hands clasped behind his back and I looked up smiling at my favorite person. He smiled back down at me before kissing me softly. He lifted his head just slightly and then kissed me again, letting his hands go up to hold my face as he kept kissing me. I started walking backwards, pulling him with me, and right before I hit the bed we heard the doorbell. Charles grunted as he separated from me, turning back to our closet to pick out a shirt.
"J'ouvrirai la porte," I'll get the door, I told him and walked out into the sunny apartment. My mom came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel as she watched me walk up to the door. I looked through the hole in the door and then opened it for Joris and Hugo. "Il s'habille, il sortira dans une seconde," He's getting dressed, he'll be out in a second, I told them before stepping aside to let them in.
"Joyeux anniversaire en retard," Happy belated birthday, Joris said as he walked in, kissing next to my cheeks as he walked in. Hugo did the same before I closed the door behind them. "Désolé, nous avons raté la fête," Sorry we missed the party, he added as he kicked his shoes off.
"Tu n'as rien raté," You didn't miss anything, I whispered so my mom wouldn't hear. I know she's somewhere spying on who just walked through the door.
My mom was busted in her spying when Joris and Hugo walked into the living room and my mom was standing there holding kitchen utensils. She saw Joris and smiled warmly before greeting them both with hugs. She had never met Hugo, and he's conveniently attractive for anyone who isn't blind, so my mom nearly lit up at the sight of him, the poor guy.
