Fake it, and Run. (Story 53)

Chuya sat by himself at his favorite bar, the door chimed welcoming in a customer. "What took you so long?" Chuya asked while swirling his red wine in his glass, the customer was Osamu Dazai. Dazai sat down next to Chuya, the bartender slid him a small glass of Whiskey. "I mean, we're at war right now with the Guild. And the Agency is fighting like hell." Chuya sipped his wine listening to Dazai go on. "Dazai." "What's up Chuu?" "Are you still going to do it?" Chuya looked at the brunette.

Dazai sighed taking a sip of his whiskey. "I am, tomorrow ill do it." His expression saddened, Chuya rested his hand on Dazai's shoulder to comfort him. "Dazai, you don't have to do this. You don't need to come with me, the Mafia already thinks I'm dead. You can stay and thrive at the Agency and continue saving people." "Chuya, I want to run away with you. You hold my heart, I just want to be with you. I don't want to be your enemy. Let's leave this fucked up place and run away together." Chuya blushed to listen to Dazai's words, he really is committed to him.

"We're gonna start a good life together, somewhere else." Chuya smiled and sipped on his wine. "Yeah, we are, together." Dazai smiled, Chuya returned the smile and the two talked the entire night. The following morning, there were explosions all over the city. "Have any of you received word from Dazai?" Kunikida shouted at him, Atsushi and Kenji were hiding behind a flipped-over car. 

"No!" Atsushi yelled back, he peeked out and spotted a body in the road. "Kunikida! I see someone!" Before Kunikida could say anything, Atsushi jumped over the car and ran towards the person, "Hey! You need to get out of here! It's not safe!" Before Atsushi reached the body, an explosion interrupted sending the body and Atsushi flying backward. Atsushi crashed into the car Kunikida and Kenji were hiding behind and the body of a citizen crashed into a building. Atsushi quickly got up and rushed towards the body, "Hey!" He shouted, the body was buried under cement rocks and glass from the broken, burnt down building. 

Kunikida and Kenji rushed toward Atsushi, "Do you know this person Atsushi?" Kenji asked. Just as the question left his mouth, Atsushi found the body. The body belonged to their coworker, their friend, Atsushi's savior. Osamu Dazai. "It can't be," Kunikida mumbled in shock, they looked at their friend's corpse laying under cement brick. Atsushi screamed at the top of his lungs, Kenji covered his mouth and started breaking down himself. "This can't be Dazai! Dazai can't die!" Atsushi pulled out the corpse, "Kid, you have to accept the reality of this. That is Dazai, he...is dead." Kunikida spoke up.

That Day At The Lake, Where Atsushi Found Osamu Dazai In The Lake.

"Hey Atsushi, before my coworker finds me. Let me show you something." "Okay..." Atsushi raised an eyebrow and watched Dazai unravel the bandages on his hand, there was a scar on his left hand. "See that?" Atsushi looked at his scar, "How'd you manage to get that?" Atsushi asked, they were interrupted by Atsushi's stomach growling, "Hehe, ill have to tell you that story another time." Dazai smiled.

Back to Current Time:

Atsushi ripped Dazai's bandages off both his arms, he searched for the scar. He double-checked, triple-checked. "There's no scar on either of his hands." Atsushi mumbled, "Dazai isn't dead!" Atsushi shouted. "Kid, Dazai is right in front of you! He's long gone! He must have died from the explosions. Atsushi, we need to focus and defeat the Guild. Mourning Dazai can wait until these motherfuckers are defeated and killed." Kenji and Atsushi exchanged looks, "I know Kunikida-kun but, this body right here isn't Dazai. Dazai-kun is still alive and out there somewhere!" 

Chuya was leaning against a tree finishing his cigarette, he blew out his final smoke ring into the sunset. Chuya heard footsteps drawing near, "Ready to start our new life together?" Dazai smiled walking up to him. Chuya smiled back, "They think you are dead?" "Yep." Dazai held out his hand, Chuya grabbed it and their hands intertwined together. This is the start of their new life together, it's their happily ever after.
