Tsukishima was y/n's childhood friend, he would never admit it but he actually loved her since he was a child, growing up he would see her get bullied, he would try to cheer her everytime she was crying or loosing her patience, he knew he might not wanna get involved with her matters but he doesn't want her gone.
As they grew up Tsukishima felt himself loving her more and more slowly, he got y/n to become the volleyball team manager so he could after her a little more, he was glad she was bonding well with all the volleyball team members but it didn't make a big difference, she was still targeted otherwise and he wished it would end.
Tsukishima stayed out of all the matters regarding y/n because he couldn't possibly change anything in those and he was the top student of his class if he got involved he'll be targeted and stupid rumors would spread around since he was popular for his grades.
It was another usual Saturday, Tsukishima had noticed how y/n felt more and more excluded slowly each day, he felt sad himself for not doing anything he for so long, he was going to y/n's home since the volleyball team planned a movie night so he was going to pick her up, he greeted y/n's mother as she told him y/n was upstairs in her room, usually have gone to y/n's home Tsukishima felt normal to roam around, he entered y/n's room and froze at the sight in front of him.
A sudden realisation hit him as he ran and held her hand preventing her from falling, y/n cried telling him to let go of her hand but he just can't let go, Tsukishima pulled y/n up and hugged her tightly crying loudly as his glasses fell onto the ground. He confessed to her at that moment and apologized for his ignorance towards her all this time, after an hour both of them calmed down and Tsukishima decided to stay at y/n's home for that night.
The next day a girl pulled y/n out in the hallway when Tsukishima held y/n's hand and stepped up, y/n was shocked when he did so, Tsukishima threatened all of y/n's bullies away and the next day there were talks all over school about Tsukishima and y/n. He didn't mind them talks but he sure got annoyed after some time but didn't react as it would only worsen the talks.
He looked after y/n better after that and always made sure no one hurt her.
