Chapter 19 Royal Portrait Day

IT's was the morning was royal portrait day for Pipp and Zipp and as usually Pipp was livestreaming she had some pop star glass on "Good morning, Pippsqueaks! Okay, today is Zephyr Heights Royal Princess Portrait Day!" "Okay, so the photo shoot isn't until this afternoon, but you know I couldn't get ready without you! Thoughts?" she said gusting to her glass a bunch of heart emojis flashed on screen "Let's see what Princess Zipp thinks about the combo!" she then said turned the camera over to where Zipp was doing some research from Twilights message "Zipp! Did you get that photo I just Dew dropped to you?" Pipp asked "A little busy! Who was she talking about?" "Gotta be something that I'm missing here" said Zipp looking over her notes "Come on, Zipp! Just a quick look!" asked Pipp Zipp turned around "I told you I'm but" she began then saw Pipp recording and gasped "Pipp! This investigation is private!" yelled Zipp "All right, all right" said Pipp flying back to her section of the Brighthouse bedroom "How can you even think about Portrait Day when the mystery of that warning from Twilight Sparkle is still waiting to be solved? Who was this evil force she was trying to warn us about? How did she build protection around Equestria? She said we were in danger," said Zipp she then noticed Pipp not paying attention "Pipp!"" she yelled "We are! In danger of looking awful in a portrait printed on the cover of Pegasus Weekly and referenced by the media for all of time! Oh, oh, I know what will get you in the mood" said Pipp pick up her lucky microphone "Let's sing the Portrait Day song from when we were fillies! Be still, don't move" she began to sing "No song, Pipp" said Zipp throwing a pillow at her but Pipp dodged it and continued to sing "It's easy to smile with you by my side" "No song!" yelled Zipp throwing another pillow this one hit it's mark knocking Pipp out of the sky and on to her bed

On her throne Opaline and Misty were watching Pipp's livestream since they couldn't see into the Brighthouse this would have to do "We have to figure out what Twilight meant. It's our top priority. Are you still livestreaming? Give me that phone!" said Zipp grabbing Pipp's phone and turning it off "Meddling ponies! Always sticking their noses places they shouldn't be! And how is Twilight Sparkle still interfering with my plan?! We need to get rid of those two princesses as soon as possible! You'll just have to lure them into a trap. Hmmm... But what could entice them?" said Opaline Misty went to her room and picked up an old Pegasus Weekly magazine "Maybe this could help? Their annual Portrait Day is coming up" said Misty handing it to Opaline she looked at the pick and saw the flowers in the Princess Manes "An Ocean Lily" she said in a thoughtful voice she then gasped "Childhood memories! Perfect!" she said she flew down to the version pool and used her magic to create an ocean lily then gave it to Misty "Just one more thing. Be extra careful with the older one. She's far too curious for my liking" Misty took the lily in her mouth and nodded trotting off Opaline gave an evil chuckle

"Wow! Royal Portrait Day? What kind of portrait are we talking? How long has this tradition been a thing? Is the portrait used for anything specific?" asked Sunny who was bombing Zipp and Pipp with questions even since they told her about it "Let them speak Sunny" I said "Avant-garde, way before we were born, and the picture shows up everywhere! Even on our Pegasi money!" answered Pipp holding out a Pegasus dollar note "Come on, Sunny. You aren't actually interested in this stuff, are you?" asked Zipp "Actually this is kind of cool" I said "Of course. Who else gets to learn about royal Pegasus traditions like this from actual royals? What's not to like?" asked Sunny "Uh... everything? Getting primped and pampered all day just to still for hours? My wings are twitching just thinking about it. Besides, there are more important matters at hoof. I mean, we all saw that Twilight Sparkle hologram thingy, right?" said Zipp "Look Zipp I know you don't like standing still but this is a photo when Me and Twilight got portraits done with had to stand still while somepony sketch us out that took hours plus this is just one day then another one in a few years as for Twilight's message it's not going anywhere you can get back to it as soon as portrait day it done "Zephyrina Storm!" yelled Pipp "Only Mom calls me that" groaned Zipp "You used to love this stuff when we were little. Why not recapture that feeling and just enjoy it, hmm?" asked Pipp "A little relaxation to clear your head. Just have fun today, okay?" said Sunny Zipp was about to responded but the door of the salon opened as trumpets flared and Queen Haven walked in "Girls! Oh, my hoofness! It's been far too long! Quick! Hug mother!" she said "Mom!" cried Pipp running up to her and hugging "Good afternoon, Queen Haven!" said Sunny bowing "Your highness" I said bowing my head "Your highness" she said back "Hi, Mom" said Zipp "That's it? Just "hi"?" said Queen Haven Zipp rolled her eyes and went up to hug her "Now that's the princess" started Queen Haven but she stopped herself "Oops! Sorry. That's the Detective Zipp I like to see" she said a strain on Queen Haven hair then fell over her face "Oh, dear. Take my chair" said Sunny Haven gladly took the chair Pipp flew over to and seat to the left of her mom "Oh, so sweet of you, Sunny. Thank you. Come on, Zipp. One more chair with your name on it" said Queen Haven gusting to the empty seat to her right "I was thinking maybe I'd skip the" began Zipp but Queen then angrily shout at her "Zephyrina Storm!"
