Chapter 40 Holiday Traditions

The next morning we were all set to go Sparky pushed a button on the dashboard to start the engine "Thanks, my little co-pilot" said Zipp as the Mare Stream gave a whirring sound "Hmm... Yup. Just as I suspected" said Zipp "What is it?!" asked Sunny "Still awesome! Everypony, hold onto your hooves! We're going flying! Magic check?" said Zipp "Check!" I said  "Door lock check?" asked Zipp Hitch closed the door "Check-eroo!" he said "Onboard snack check?" asked Zipp "Mmm! Check!" said Izzy munching on said snacks "Take off!" said Zipp she pulled a lever and we took to the air "This is your captain speaking. We are at a cruising altitude of... I don't actually know, and traveling at the speed of... magic! The current time is... This thing doesn't have a clock, but it's definitely morning" said Zipp "We have an estimated arrival at Grandma Figgy's cottage...at approximately... pretty soon. The seatbelt sign is... Well, we don't have one, but if we did, it would be off and you'd all be free to move around the cabin" said Zipp  "Now, for a brief announcement from a member of our flight team" said Zipp "Hello, this is your friendly in-flight entertainment coordinator Izzy Moonbow, and I'm here to say that it's time for a good old-fashioned sing-along, okay?!" said Izzy "Ooh! Yes! Yes!" said Pipp "And a-one, and a-two, a one-two-three!" Over the crystals and through the woods To Grandmare's tree we go" sang Izzy we all then sang a different line Sunny and Hitch sang "Earth ponies play" Izzy sang "It's the best day" Pipp and Zipp sang "Wings know the way" we stopped "What was that?" said Hitch  "I don't know. I guess we all know the same basic melody at least" said Pipp "Each pony kind must have a different version of the lyrics!" I said "Fun! Okay, let's take it again, but alternate verses this time! Hit it, Sparky!" said Pipp "Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohhh, Ohhh"  "Over the mountains and through the clouds" sang Pipp and Zipp "To Grandmare's house we go" we all sang "Earth ponies play" sang Pipp "To whinny and neigh" sang Pipp and Zipp "Through peppermint candy snow Ohhh-ohhh-ohhh-ohhh-Ohhh" we all sang  "When we get closer to Grandmare's house" sang Pipp "The pretty lights let us know" sang Sunny "And soon we'll see" sang Pipp and Sunny "A special pony Through her icing-frosted windows Ohhh-ohhh-ohhh-ohhh Ohhh-ohhh-ohhh-ohhh-ohhh-ohhh" we sang "Peppermint candy snow?" said Pipp 

Ahead Zipp saw two Pegasus on the phones and took a sharp turn to miss them "Eyes on the sky and not on your screens, fillies!" yelled Zipp back Zipp took as down to was a rough landing "Zipp!" said Pipp "Hey! It's new!" said Zipp Hitch look at Grandma Figgy's house "Trees? Those weren't there before" he said "They look beautiful!" said Izzy "But it doesn't even look like Grandma Figgy's house now" said Hitch We got ready to Knock but Hitch stopped us "Wait, everypony!" he said "What is it now, Hitch? We can't waste any time. We're on kind of a tight schedule today" said Sunny who head up a phone that was timing the wishing star to the time it  would across over the Brighthouse "I know, I know. I just wanted to warn you all first. Look, my Grandma Figgy is great. She's probably the best Gran of all time" said Hitch "Are you serious? Wow!" said Izzy "Yeah, she's the best. But she can be kinda, um, particular about Winter Wishday" he said "Particular how?" I asked "She likes things to be just so" he said "Just so" how?" asked Pipp "You're being just a little vague here" said Zipp "We celebrate Winter Wishday together every single moon the exact same way. Her favourite holiday activity is building cookie cottages with me, and it's always been that way since I was a little foal. It's a big, big deal to her. It's gotta be perfect. So just keep that in mind. That's all" said Hitch "Oh, that's all? Of course we'll honour her Earth pony traditions, just like she likes" said Sunny "Yeah, silly! We're gonna be great guests!" said Pipp "Guests who go with the flow! In the snow!" said Izzy "Thanks, everypony. I know it'll mean a lot to Grandma Figgy" we knock on the door seconds later to opened "Hitchie!" said Grandma Figgy "Granny!" said Hitch as they hug "Cheery Wishday!" said Hitch "Oh, it sure is! And what a treat to have Hitchie's friends here, too! Oh! And this little adorable little sweetheart, of course! Oh, ome to Granny!" said Grandma Figgy taking Sparky from Hitch we all stood there shivering "T-T-Thanks for having us" shivered Sunny "Oh, goodness! You must be cold! I haven't seen snow like this since, well... never! Come in! Come in, and we'll warm those hoofsies right up!" said Grandma Figgy stepping aside to let us in "Who wants some hot cocoa?" she asked "Ah! Ba, ba, ba, ba! Hold up! Three jumbo marshmallows per mug. No more, no less. Right, Granny?" said Hitch "That's right, Hitchie. Enough to stick out of the top..." said Grandma Figgy "but not enough to overflow!" they said together we all hide a laugh Pipp took a sip "Mmm! Super delish! And I love the decorations. So festive" she said "Oh, thank you, dear" said Grandma Figgy "She puts up them up every Wishday. They look exactly the same as when I was a colt. Except for all those trees out front. That's different" said Hitch "I grew 'em with my very own glowin' hooves with this newfangled Earth pony magic. Pretty nifty stuff. Oh, I do love to change things up every chance I get, don't you? It can be so boring to do the same thing over and over" said Grandma Figgy "Hold that thought. I'm gonna grab some napkins" said Hitch "I couldn't agree more, Figgy! Now, what would you say to another cup of cocoa with four marshmallows?" said Izzy
