Zack and I were soon on the way to Rian's, and I followed the instructions he'd written on my arm in music class earlier to the very letter. Soon enough, we reached the Dawson residence. It wasn't far from our place - only a 10 minute walk - and I knew immediately it was Rian's house. I felt my body slightly vibrate more and more as we reached the house, with music blaring loudly. Zack was in his usual shy, default mode, so I presumed I would have to do the talking. I rang the doorbell and watched a figure coming closer to the door through the frosted glass.
"Can I help?" a woman smiled.
"Uh, I'm Lily, Rian's friend from school..." I said, my voice slightly shaking from nerves.
"Ah Lily! Rian said you'd be coming."
I smiled as she invited us in, and I almost forgot about Zack until he kicked me.
"Oh, sorry. This is my brother, Zack." I told her.
"Well it's nice to meet you both." she grinned; she immediately reminded me of Rian. "I'm Kathi, Rian's mom."
Zack awkwardly smiled, and returned his gaze to the floor. I simply rolled my eyes at him, and followed Kathi up to Rian's room. We were greeted with the sight of a very sweaty Rian, a very hyper Jack and an Alex on the floor in a fit of giggles. I spotted Lisa and Kara with a guy I didn't know over the other side of the room, watching the guys.
"Rian, more people!" she said loudly, pointing at us and going back downstairs.
"'K mom. We're leaving soon anyway." he shouted back.
Rian's head snapped in our direction, and he immediately came over to us. He pulled me into a tight hug, trying to rub all his sweat on me. Eventually, I managed to get out of his tight grip. I introduced him to Zack, and his face lit up. We started to walk downstairs, closely followed by the others, where Kathi stood by the door and shouted her goodbyes to us as we quickly left. Our house wasn't far from Rian's so we didn't have too far to go. Soon we reached the house and headed straight for the basement. The girls and the boy I didn't know all sat on the couches while Jack and Alex fooled around and I stayed with my brother and Zack.
"So you're the brother we've heard so much about..." he smirked, folding his arms.
"What did you tell them..." groaned Zack.
"Don't look at me like that." I told him, raising my eyebrow. " I only said you were the bestest brother in the world and the bestest on guitar."
"LIAR!" shouted Alex.
"Fuck you, Alex. He's better than you!" I retorted, sticking my tongue out.
Alex turned around to face me, with the sassiest look I had ever seen plastered on his face. I burst into fits of laughter, making everyone else laugh; I had such a witch's cackle, it was unreal. I'd laughed so much I was crying, meaning I didn't see Alex running towards me. Suddenly I felt myself being grabbed around the waist and flung over someone's shoulder. I squealed loudly, and kicked my legs out violently.
"Alex you fucker!" I squealed, punching him in the back.
"Tell me I'm better on guitar."
"Hell no!"
"Say it and I'll put you down..." he reasoned.
"Fuck." I mumbled. "Fine...Alexander Gaskarth, you are the best guitarist in the world." I said loudly.
"Music to my ears." he sighed happily.
I could hear the smirk in Alex's voice, and I felt myself falling. He dropped me on the couch on top of Kara, Lisa and the boy I didn't know.
