{Jack's POV}

"Lily, I've realised that I lo-"

I didn't even get to finish what I was saying. Lily leaned up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against mine. I totally wasn't expecting that. I relaxed into the kiss quickly and it was the best feeling of my life. I mean, we'd kissed before, but this was totally different. It was passionate, like we'd been apart for years and this was the first time we were seeing each other. I pulled away slowly, resting my forehead against hers. She was breathing heavily, but she had a huge smile on her face at the same time.

"Lily Maria Merrick," I panted. "I love you, more than life itself, more than anything on this earth."

"Even more than Alex?" she smirked.

"Even more than Alex." I grinned, nodding.

"Jackalope," she said quietly. "I love you more than pot."

She said it so casually and had the cutest smile on her face when she did; I couldn't help but laugh. I knew what she was trying to do; she was trying to turn a serious situation into a silly one, but I kept it serious.

"I'm sorry about the way things ended up." I said eventually; Lily stopped laughing immediately. "Believe me, if I could turn back time, I'd make sure none of that ever happened. And I swear I'll never let you get hurt again."

Lily's mouth fell open when I finished speaking and the tears in her eyes finally fell when I kissed her hand. She stuttered in silence as she tried to speak, but she got there eventually.

"That was the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me." she whispered. "I love you so much, Jack."

She leaned up on her tiptoes again and we both went in for a kiss. Our lips moved in sync with each other and I felt Lily's body ripple as she tried to keep her rhythm. It made me smile through the kiss. She did so many cute things, like she purposely wanted me to love her more - if that was at all possible. The kiss deepened yet again and I wanted to take it a little further. Gently, I nibbled on her bottom lip; she poked me in the stomach. I nibbled her lip again; she did the same. For the third time, I nibbled on her lip. Lily pulled away, panting heavily and looking at me as if I tried to rape her.

"What the FUCK?!" she exclaimed.

"I-I thought you-"

"What, that I was just gonna act like a total slut to please you?!" she yelled.

"No! Lily, I love you! I'd never whore you out!"

"Well for future reference, a poke in the stomach means 'fuck you' okay?!"

"I'm sorry." I mumbled.

I stepped closer to Lily, arms open wide to hug her. Instead, she hugged herself awkwardly and stared at the ground.

"I want my keys." she murmured, still staring at the ground. "I wanna go home."

I took the keys out of my pocket and held them out to her. She went to snatch them from me, but I pulled them away and hid them behind my back. Lily tutted loudly.

"You can only have them if I get a ride home." I smirked, jingling the keys above her head.

"Fine." she sighed.

Lily stood on her tiptoes and took the keys from me. I managed to snatch a kiss as she did; her eyes sparkled and she started to smirk as she walked back to the car. Obviously she thought I hadn't seen. As we walked back to the car, Lily started to shrug my jacket off but she wasn't successful - it was way too big for her! She groaned impatiently, then gave up altogether and shrugged it back on. The drive home was kinda awkward. I tried to make Lily laugh, but her heart wasn't in it. In the end I gave up, hoping she'd cheer up in her own time. We got nearer to my house when she suddenly stopped the car.

"Everything okay?"

"I want you to stay at my place tonight." she said quickly, still staring ahead.

"Oh, um...okay. Sure." I nodded.

"But...go home first. Then sneak out later. I'll be out on the roof anyway."

Lily looked at me for the first time since we'd set off. She wanted to smile at me, but something was holding her back. I leaned over, kissed her quickly and went to get out of the car.

"Jack, wait."

Finally. She was gonna speak to me!

"Yeah?" I said quickly, leaning down.

"Uh...your jacket." she said nervously, holding out my jacket.

"Keep it." I smiled.

I walked down the street just as Lily pulled away, driving pretty fast. She didn't just want to give me my jacket. She wanted to say something, that much was obvious, but she was holding back. The front door was locked, oddly enough, so I knocked loudly. No answer.

"MOM?" I yelled.

Nothing.

"DAD?"

Nothing.

"JOE! MAY!"

Again, nothing. Then I remembered; they went out for dinner with the family who'd just moved in down the street and I didn't wanna go. I snorted loudly, then turned and walked to Lily's. I went in my pocket to text her, but then I remembered my phone was in the house. Fuck.

"Oh well." I shrugged.

I noticed I was near Alex's place, so I took a diversion. I ran along his next door neighour's driveway, hopped over their gate and ran through the garden. It was like something out of a movie. I did pretty much the same for about 10 minutes, until I saw a familiar house through the trees: the Merricks'. Carefully I walked through the trees and saw smoke rings. I knew right away that Lily was on the roof. As I walked, I could hear singing. It was beautiful; it was Lily.
