Lily

"Morning, Ri." I grinned as he took his usual seat next to me.

"Well someone's happy this morning..." he smirked.

"I dunno what it is, but I just have a feeling today's gonna be...awesome!" I said excitedly.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Rian smirk slightly. I decided to act like I hadn't seen it, and we immersed ourselves in deep conversation about the Blink-182 hiatus rumours - which broke my heart every time I thought about it - and various new records that were due for release and we were super excited about. But as we got nearer and nearer to school, Rian started talking less. I saw his cheeks flush slightly pink as the bus ground to a halt and it seemed as if he couldn't wait to get away from me. He quickly mumbled something about needing to speak to somebody about something - he didn't say it loud enough for me to hear properly - and disappeared into the crowd of people.

"Great..." I groaned.

It was the first time I'd actually walked into school alone: I met Rian on my very first day, and someone usually met me if Rian was running late. I tried my best to get through the huge crowds, but nothing worked. I was pretty much useless on my own. When I'm on my own, my confidence is so low it's unreal, and I hate it. I'd give anything to have confidence. I decided to wait by the gates until first bell, knowing full well that people would move then. I climbed up onto the little wall that was just behind the gates and I could finally see over the mass of people; some local band (who were so hipster it was beyond belief) had been asked to play at lunch today, and they'd turned up early. They acted as if they were famous rock stars or something, when all they actually are is posers who barely know how to play an instrument. I was about to shout some form of abuse at them, when I felt a hand wrap around my wrist and pull me down. Suddenly I fell, but luckily the person caught me.

"What the fu-" I began to yell, but then I looked up. "Oh, hi Jack." I said quietly.

Jack sheepishly smiled before letting me go. He offered to walk me to home room, and I agreed. There was an awkward silence between us, and I really hated it. I'd tried to make conversation with Jack, but he just stared at the ground and mumbled, so I stopped trying. Boys are such fucking nimrods. I reached the room and was about to walk in when Jack pulled me back again.

"Lily, I need to talk to you in music." he blurted out.

"Oh...okay." I shrugged. "Why not now?"

"It's complicated..." he murmured, drawing circles on the floor with his foot.

Again, I shrugged at Jack and leaned up on my tip toes to hug him, then hurried into the classroom. As usual, I was greeted wth Alex and Lisa's adorableness.

"Lex, I'm not saying it." she smirked, poking his nose.

"But you have toooooo..." he said in a sing-song voice, smiling at her.

"Ugh, you're a doofus!" she giggled. "You know I hate you right?

"Yup." nodded Alex, popping the 'p'. "And anyway, I'm sure Lily's about to stick her fingers down her throat any second because we're just...bleugh."

I snapped out of my slight daydream to see Lisa giggling at me. I smiled and shook my head slightly.

"It's fine. You two are adorable." I grinned.

"Did Jack talk to you this morning?" asked Lisa, making Alex sigh loudly. "What? It's just a question!" she said to him.

"No, but he was acting, like, really weird." I told her, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. "He did say he wanted to speak to me later though."

Lisa gritted her teeth, obviously wanting to insult Jack. This was too weird; first Rian, then Jack and now Alex and Lisa. What the hell is wrong with them all?! I decided to try and get it out of Lisa, since she was more willing to talk than Alex was.

"Is something wrong with Jack? Do you guys know anything?"

"We know...but we can't say..." sighed Lisa, hesitating slightly. "Jack wants to tell you himself."

I narrowed my eyes slightly at her and Alex. So everyone was keeping secrets from me! I knew something was going on, but when I kept asking, they just avoided my question or wouldn't answer. The bell rang for first period, and Lisa walked me to French class as usual. It was slightly awkward between us, because she avoided every question I asked her about Jack by just not speaking to me. All I wanted to know was why he was acting so weird! Jack and I are really good friends, or so I thought, and his behaviour this morning really freaked me out. As usual, Lisa left me with Kara and went off to her own class. I was about to ask Kara if she knew anything, but when I turned to look at her she was looking at someone else. Kara turned back to me, then nodded her head slightly to someone stood in front of me. I glanced to see who it was.

"Jack?" I gasped.

"I'm sorry, Lily, but this can't wait." he said quietly, biting his lip.

"But I-"

"Just go." smiled Kara, pushing me closer to Jack. "I'll cover for you."

I nodded at Kara, mentally thanking her, and allowed myself to be dragged off by Jack. He led me all the way down the corridor quickly and dragged me to the stairwell at the end of it. Jack ploughed straight through the door and waited for me to follow before sitting on the stairs and patting the space in front of him. I took this as an invite to sit down, so I did. Cross-legged, I stared and stared at Jack, silently telling him to hurry up and speak. It took me a whole five minutes before I lost my cool.

"Jack what the fuck is going on?" I snapped.

"Lily I...I...You...I..." he stammered.

"I swear to god if you don't tell me..." I threatened.

After another minute of Jack staring at the ground and me staring at him, I got up. I'd started to walk away when a hand grabbed my arm. He spun me round so I was facing him.

"I really like you, Lily." he breathed.
