Relationships: Bilbo x You (Modern girl in Middle Earth)

Content: Fluff, alcohol

Summary: You wanted to go on a pub crawl around the Shire, but your friends abandon you along the way during the Yule celebrations. Fortunately Bilbo finds you, drunk, outside in the middle of winter.

*

"The wine here is stronger than I thought!" you say as you exit the Ivy Bush Inn in the middle of Hobbiton. "Plus, it's way too hot for the New Year festivities!"

After closing the large round door of the inn behind you, you take a few steps before noticing that your friends who were supposed to be waiting for you have already left. And given the amount of alcohol you have had since the start of the evening, you have no idea which inns you have been to and which ones you need to go.

The pub crawl you planned with your friends is already over for you.

More than a year has passed since you arrived in Buckland on a sunny summer morning, transformed into a little hobbit with hairy feet.

Hobbits are suspicious of strangers, but not of their race. Without giving too much explanation, you have managed to find a job in an inn in Buckland, accommodation and make new friends.

The Yule days, or also called Yuletides, are celebrated over two days during which the whole region celebrates relentlessly. This year, your boss has given you days off to celebrate both days freely. And knowing that you have never been to The Shire, some friends suggested you could go and celebrate there; where there are many more inns than in Buckland!

So here you are alone outside in the dead of winter, and the night doesn't cool the air enough for your body heat to come down.

So the goal was to do all the inns in the region overnight and sleep during the day. But you are now completely drunk, alone, right in the middle of Hobbiton. Your friends, as drunk as you, must have continued without even realizing that you weren't with them.

It's not that bad. The Shire must be the safest place in Middle-earth!

"Oh I have the solution!" you say suddenly as you walk towards a river. "The water in the river looks very cool! My hobbit feet are solid, right? I can just let them dip for a short while, right?"

The grass is way too wet to sit on, so you sit on a rock and let your feet hang in the water. The fresh water feels so good!

.

I had a few drinks, but not enough to imagine a woman's voice in the middle of the night!, he thinks, walking closer to the voice. A beautiful voice, moreover! And this song is strange. Very strange, indeed.

Not far from here, a hobbit dressed in fall colours, with curly golden hair, was walking home after a long dinner with friends. The icy air burning his ears quickened his steps in the direction of his hole and his warm fireplace.

Between the late hour and the cold of winter, there were few hobbits outside. The only ones he saw were going from hole to hole or inn to inn.

That's why, when he hears a female voice singing alone a song he had never heard before, he starts to follow the sound of the song.

Thinking about what he would find, he was far from the sight of a hobbit with her feet in water in the dead of winter. It was beyond what he had imagined. It had been a long time since he had been so surprised in the Shire, perhaps the last time was when a company of dwarfs had met at his house in the middle of the night. But that story goes back over four years now. And nothing extraordinary ever happened here.
