"We're walking into that building, now," said Daryl into his radio headset. He was dressed in his black tactical space suit, receding his helmet. Edmund and Jonathan were dressed the same way. They receded their helmets and took a look around.
Daryl and his crew were in the decontamination and security checkpoint entryway for the colony's main office building.
Daryl stayed ahead, focused, scanning his surroundings for anything suspicious. He told Jonathan, "You would think that everything would be organized properly, and guess what, it all is."
A machine that looked like a solid, circular disc turned itself on above their heads and began moving itself around on a ceiling arm set to a grid of metal guide-rails.
Edmund chuckled and stated the obvious, "Yeah! The place looks clean!"
"It's only as clean as we make it," Daryl smoothed. "It's a good sign that everything here is this way, because that should mean the people here are likewise," he said.

A female AI spoke from the OH-vox speakers in Japanese: With the increasing crime rates in this part of the JSF region, we have increased security measures and effectiveness, taking safety precautions to fortify our defenses against all possible threats to the Koyata G. Kumitai colony. Please listen closely and follow the step by step verification process. To proceed, we must first verify your personal information, including your weight, height, *fuzz*. All information must match what is on your UID or United Passport. Your picture ID must also match your current appearance at an 80% requirement level. Please standby with your arms straight out from both sides of your body and wait for further instructions.

"I don't understand that-amount of Japanese," Jonathan said, sighing.
"Do what I'm doing," Daryl instructed. Daryl held his arms out in a T-pose with Edmund and Jonathan doing the same.
The machine above them went over each of their heads. A bright white light shined down them as though taking a gradual photo of each of them. Jonathan squinted while Edmund covered his eyes with his hands.
Edmund said with a nervous chuckle, "That f$cker is bright! Jesus Christ!"
Jonathan sighed again, solidifying his stance.
The round machine above them stopped for a moment. It was right above Edmund's head. Nothing was happening. Edmund held his arms out again and looked up at the machine, waiting for something to happen. He giggled nervously.
"Welp?" Jonathan said, deadpan face.
"Is it working?" Edmund asked.
The room went silent, with exception of their breathing and occasional repositioning of their footing.
"Uhhh," expressed Daryl. He turned and looked at his crew. He said, "Welp?"
"I think Edmund broke it," Jonathan commented.
Edmund looked at him and chuckled nervously. He said, "No?"
Jonathan said, "You're supposed to just stand there with your arms out."
"I did!" Edmund chuckled.
Jonathan argued, "You rubbed your eyes."
Edmund paused, thinking. He said, "So?"
Daryl and Jonathan picked up. Daryl said, "You're not supposed to move at all."
"Don't move," Jonathan said. "Just stand there."
Edmund chuckled, "Alright, alright."
They went silent again, waiting for the machine.

AI instructed: Thank you for your patience. Please follow the instructions as laid out for you. Stand by with your arms pointed out on either side of you, and wait for further instructions.

Edmund reactively swung his hips left to right, standing with his feet out. He changed his stance with both feet placed together.
The machine emitted another bright light above Edmund, forcing him to blink.
Jonathan's eyes were kept closed. He listened for the next step in the process.
Daryl was looking straight up at the ceiling, then looked straight down at the ground.

As soon as the checkpoint opened the gate in front of them, Daryl gestured them to follow him in. At the computers, to the far right, was a management figure.
