Sgt. Chris was listening to the comms, waiting for Lt. Magi to say something more. So far, there were no worries on his side, and the platoon's six was all clear. Sgt. Chris said to Cpl. Tanner, "Take control, okay?" He then patted PFC Haki Kazumi to move out of the front passenger seat and took his place, then went on comms and requested, "Sergeant Chris to Lieutenant Magi, sir. Can I get some details on the situation, sir?"
Lt. Magi commanded, Keep your eyes on the road ahead of you, squad safety first. Sergeant Chris, if you notice, coming up in a few miles, we've got smoke stacks rising from the target destination. When you guys get over the ridge, take a good look. We might have to keep our distance and park it. Major Alexander is waiting on Colonel Dark to give us a green light on engaging with hostiles. Thing is, they aren't attacking USF. It looks like some mercenary outfit up against the Indians. Why it's happening there, I don't know. So, binoc that. Over.
Sgt. Chris replied, "Sir, yes sir!" He receded his visor and placed a pair of shades on that allowed him to zoom in on the distant outpost that was still miles away. He exclaimed to his crew, "Holy sh$t, there it is. I see it! That's... they've got lasers. They've got lasers and they are shooting at each other. Okay, keep your eyes on the road and follow this guy up here."
PFC Bartholomew told Cpl. Tanner, "I think there's action going up there with the Indians, you should check it out, Tanner."
Cpl. Tanner replied sarcastically, "Nah, you think, bro?"
PFC Bartholomew chuckled and jabbed, "Only thinking about how lonely your love life is... uhhh, PFC Desoto."
PFC Desoto jabbed back, "Hey, f$ck you, Bartholomew. You smell. You're talking about Corporal's love life."
Some of the squad chuckled.
Cpl. Tanner cautioned, "Alright, now watch your mouths. Keep your sh$t talking down. I'm trying to listen to the comms here."
PFC Bartholomew held up his middle finger while the soldier next to him grabbed his hand gently to guide it down to his side.
Sgt. Chris turned toward the back and gave Cpl. Tanner a nod. He turned back around and looked up ahead of their snow eater and excitedly spotted, "Up there! Look at that! More ships!" He patted the driver lightly then rested his hand on his shoulder. Sgt. Chris leaned forward and crooked his neck to look higher into the sky, watching the ships hover in their multi-level formations.Comms roared with commentary on the sightings.
You guys seeing this?
That's USF! Right?
That looks like USF up there!
I can't get a good visual on them. Anyone see their flags on the side? Over.
Lieutenant, they're definitely ours.
Are you sure that's one of ours? Over.
Sgt. Rapolo went on comms and said, Rapper to Magi, requesting intel on those ships flying in above us over there. I counted around thirteen of them. Those ours, sir? Over.
Lt. Magi responded, That's United Space Force, Rapper. Major Alexander told me that they're responding to a distress call sent from the same exact f$ggin' outpost. You guys stay sharp... be ready to respond to this. Over.Sgt. Chris glanced at the driver and asked in zealous curiosity, "Distress call at the same f$cking outpost? There's no way. This looks like a f$cking war is about to go down." He chortled, eager to get to the destination. Taking off his shades and dropping his visor back down, he teased, "How much you wanna bet that Major is gonna order us to sit still outside of the kinetic zone? He's gonna tell us-oh yeah, you guys are not authorized-and then he's gonna let these dudes coming down from space go in there instead."
Lt. Magi ordered, All vehicles, all vehicles, slow your rolls, cruise at 45 miles per hour, and standby for further orders. Over.
Sgt. Chris nodded his head quickly, satisfied with knowing that they were going to be slowed down. He said, "And now we just wait for Major to say-RTB, the situation is handled! I mean, politically speaking, who in the f$ck is handling that cluster f$ck? That's-a lot of mother f$ckers... oh, right there, you see that? I don't even need binocs for this. There's a whole line of IFRE reinforcements over there. That's gotta be IFRE, and if not, then we're in a whole lotta trouble."
