Time: 4:50 am.
Setting: Luke's Bathroom.
Luke: Who's Niall?
Ashton: (voice cracking, bitter) He was my best friend.
Luke: Was?
Ashton: 'Was'. (frowning) As in, past tense. As in, we're not friends anymore.
Luke: (cautious) Can I ask why?
Ashton: (stays quiet for several minutes, trying to calm down, sighs) He fixed her. (choked) He did what I couldn't. (sobs, grips Luke's shirt tighter) And I hate him for it. Hate him so much.
Luke: (hugs him) It's okay.
Ashton: (shakes head, sad) It's not! I don't want to hate him! We're so close before then but now, I hate him. (broken) I don't want to hate him. I was so close to stopping. So close to trying to fix things. (punches the bathtub wall) Then she had to come and see me. (cries) I didn't need to see her like that.
Luke: (pulls Ashton's arms in until they're both resting between him and Ashton) Shh, koala. (pets Ashton's hair) We don't have to talk about it.
Ashton: (crying) I didn't need to see her happy. (sobbing) I knew she was happy. (whimpers) I didn't know she was pregnant. (buries face in Ashton's neck) It's only been a year since the divorce. I didn't know. (breaking) I didn't WANT to know.
Luke: (holds him tightly, rocking him slightly) Shh, I got you. (kisses Ashton's head) I got you. You're okay. You're fine.
Ashton: (sniffles, small) I don't wanna talk anymore.
Luke: (runs a hand through his hair, tries to get comfortable) That's alright, sweetheart. Sleep now. You're fine. Perfect.
Ashton: Sing to me. (pulls away, looks up at Luke) I know you were in a band, so sing to me something you used to sing before. (lays head on Luke's chest) Please.
Luke: (sighs, starts humming) I think you're pretty without any make up on. I think you're funny when you tell the punchline wrong. I know you got me, so I let my walls fall down, do-o-own. (Ashton shifts, Luke pets his hair) Before you met me, I was alright but thing were kinda heavy. You brought me to life, now, every February, you'll be my valentine, valentine. (rocks side to side gently) Let's go all the way tonight. No regrets, just love...
