Setting: Luke's Car. Florida Orlando Hospital Parking Lot.
Ben: Hello? Is someone there?
Luke: (chokes out) Um. Hi.
Ben: (confused) Hi. Who's this?
Luke: (crying, trying to hide it) Ben? Is that you?
Ben: Yes. Who the he-(cuts off, disbelieving) Wait, wait. Luke? Luke, is that you?
Luke: (sniffling) Um. Yeah.
Ben: (shocked, relieved) You're alive.
Luke: Yeah.
Ben: God. Where are you? How have you been?
Luke: I'm in Florida. I've been better but I'm good. (tries not to get choked up) How are you? I heard you had a kid.
Ben: (still shocked, recovering) Yeah, two. A little girl and boy, actually. Andrea and Luca. She's a couple months old and Luca just turned five.. (awed) Florida? What the heck are you doing there? How long have you been there?
Luke: Working. Living. Call it what you want. And, nearly a year, I think.
Ben: (pauses, gentle) Why only now, Luke? Why didn't you call earlier? I've missed you.
Luke: (not a question) But, dad and Jack don't. I've been scared to call. I didn't know what to do if they picked up.
Ben: (angry but not at Luke) Who cares about them? And, Jack will come around. (serious) I've missed you. I wish you would've called. I've been searching all over for you, Luke. (softens) How are you? Are you still with that...um, what's his name? Trey?
Luke: Troye. And no. (smiles) I'm with someone else, at the moment.
Ben: Good. That kid was nuts. So, this new guy. Older? Younger?
Luke: (laughs, relieved) A little older. Just by two years. Real sweet guy, honestly.
Ben: (happy) That's great. (trails off, quietly) Luke? What made you call now?
Luke: (emotional) My partner's friend just gave birth and I got to hold the baby. I just...I realized that I had a niece that I had never held. I never got even see. (breaking down, starts crying softly) All I could picture was you and Diane. How I'd never even tried to see you. I've been alone for so long. I've forgotten what it's like. (sobs)
Ben: (gentle) Forgotten what what's like?
Luke: (choking) Having a family. I miss having a family, Ben. I miss it so much.
