The next day at school, I parked my car and locked up as Becks came practically barreling into me, Starbucks drinks in hand.
"So spill." She said, handing me one.
"I don't think I would want to spill this." I laughed sarcastically.
"No, I meant about what happened last night."
"Honestly, Blake and I just talked about our lives. There was literally nothing worth mentioning." I took a sip from my drink as the bell rang for class to start.
"No dark secrets? No skeletons in the closet?" She asked.
"Now that you mention it..."
"Hey, Liz!" Jeremy called. I looked up to see a beaming smile on his face. He was near the door to the classroom, waving.
"Oh. Hi Jeremy!" I smiled at him. As strange as he may have been yesterday, he seems like a nice guy. I can tell he's just trying to fit in so I feel the need to treat him a bit nicer than I did yesterday.
"Just when the juicy details were about to come out about the mysterious Parisian..." Becks mumbled. "Tell me later ok?"
I nodded, and we walked into the classroom. Becks went to her seat. Shelby was already there. My eyes scanned my table. Everyone was here. I took a deep breath and joined them.
"Hello, boys," I said, tossing my bag on the floor and placing my drink on my desk.
"We aren't boys. We are men." Leo says proudly.
I rolled my eyes. "Ok," I grumbled sarcastically.
Jeremy laughed. "You do that a lot now, don't you. Is that a new thing?"
"New thing?" I asked.
"You never really... I mean I've never really heard people use 'okay' in such a tone." Jeremy blinked innocently.
I squinted my eyes a bit at him. They always seem to change what they were going to say mid-sentence.
"Maybe it's a SoCal thing. I'm not sure." I answered honestly.
As the teacher began her lesson, I didn't really pay attention. I was focusing on the three guys at my table. They are just so strange. Why would they come all the way here... practically together, if they hated each other so much? And what is the deal with the brothers? I wonder what went down between them. I get why Blake doesn't necessarily get along with them, but strangely enough, it feels like he gets along better with each brother rather than the brothers getting along amongst themselves.
The teacher ended up giving us the last 10 minutes to discuss with our table about what we learned about each other.
"So, Liz. What did you learn about Frenchy Le Douchebag over here." Jeremy laughed.
"Really? You just had to?" Blake rolled his eyes.
Jeremy simply laughed at Blake's annoyance.
"I learned that we are a lot alike. Our families are similar in a way... except he's filthy rich and he's basically traveled the world with his modeling career." I paused. "I also learned a bit about why you all don't like each other."
"Why's that?" Leo gritted his teeth, glaring at Blake.
"Because of your father's work for rival companies. Something about you all having this one girl in common through Blake's arranged marriage and then shit blew up between your father's companies when she chose none of you." I looked between all of them and a look of relief passed Jeremy's face.
