I ate the rest of my lunch silently. No one asked me what happened. I know Becks was dying to know, but I wasn't quite sure what to tell her. I don't think she was ready for the truth just yet.

The bell rang and I bolted for the bathroom to avoid going to class with Becks and Shelby.

I got to the mirror, resting my hands on the sink. I stared at myself for a moment and took a deep sigh.

"Well well... if it isn't Lizzie McGuire and that crazy-ass head of hers." A voice said from behind me. My eyes darted to the girl. It was none other than Mackenzie Zales, the most popular girl in school and head cheerleader.

"That Lizzie McGuire joke is so 3rd grade." I sighed.

She shrugged. "What are you doing here? You know this is my territory."

I scoffed. "Sure OK... like people can go around claiming bathrooms."

She made a face but folded her arms across her chest and approached me. I still hadn't turned around. I was merely looking at her through a mirror.

She stood directly behind me and stared at me. "You know he really likes you." She said almost quietly.

I sighed. "Not you too!" I spun around.

"Just hear me out... OK?" She sighed. "I never really thought of us as allies, but I will now. Jason is my friend... and he deserves to be happy... would you consider it?"

I didn't say anything at first. I actually stared at her with my mouth agape. "But I thought you liked him?" I finally whispered.

"I do... but you are what makes him happy... I just want him to be happy... even if it hurts my heart and my ego." She gave me a sad smile.

"Wow..." I was still shocked... I mean Mackenzie out of all people. "Thanks for this... whatever it is. But I really can't. I'm not going to date someone I see no future with. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?"

"I suppose you're right." She said quietly. She let out a small smile. "Just know... this might be your only chance with him. Some girl might just steal more of his heart than you did."

"Then let her." I smiled sadly at Mackenzie.

"You know... you aren't half bad, Liz." She smirked.

"What can I say... just got to get to know me."

Mackenzie chuckled a bit. "Same applies here."

The tardy bell rang.

"Well, that's obviously our cue. Listen... I'm having a raging bonfire party on Friday... feel free to stop by and bring a friend or two." She winked as she opened the bathroom door. "Just don't get mad when you see me hitting on Jason." She laughed.

"I won't... but Becks might."

Mackenzie let out a laugh. "Please... I can take Miss Shopaholic."

"You may be surprised."

Mackenzie shrugged and left. I quickly slung my bag over my shoulder and looked at myself once more in the mirror. I let out a slight chuckle and headed for Spanish.

"Liz... late on the first day? Not a good start." My teacher tisked.

"I'm sorry. I had a... feminine problem I had to deal with." The class burst out laughing while my teacher's face went red.

"You can... uh... take a seat in the back next to my TA (Teacher's Assistant)." He pointed to the open seat in the back.

I slowly made my way to the back, passing by Becks and Shelby giving me sympathetic stares. I plopped down in a seat right in between Leo and Blake. I turned to Leo raising my eyebrows. "Teacher assistant?"
