Seth above.
"What the hell?" I scrambled out of my bed and fell to the floor. Seth watched me panic with a small smile on his face.
"Graceful as always, I see." He laughed.
"How did you get in? You could've at least knocked!" I exclaimed. "And I thought you had to be invited in!"
"Rules don't apply to me." He said calmly, sitting on the edge of my bed. "We have a special bond."
I fidgeted; annoyed with myself for not getting angry that he was still here, but he had this calming effect to him that took the edge off.
"What kind of bond?"
"Let's just say our souls have always been intertwined. I showed you the life of Elizabeth, but you are more than just her. You had... a life before you were her."
I furrowed my brows. "And you're the only one who knows that?"
"Well... not exactly." He lifted his white stone necklace. "You see this?"
I nodded.
"Everyone who has this stone knows who you really are. Automatically."
"And who exactly am I?"
"Think about it. These are moonstones. They give us immortals special abilities each."
"Are you saying that I was more powerful than you?"
"Of course. You are a goddess."
"Goddess. Moonstone. Don't tell me that I'm... Artemis, goddess of the moon."
Seth chuckled. "Well of course you are. Who else would you be?"
"But I- how?"
"Like I was saying. Each stone gives us special abilities. You gave us these to further our knowledge and help your mortal self. My stone, for instance, gives dreams."
My eyes went wide. "So that was you just now? Showing me memories of the past?"
Seth nodded. "Jeremy's purple stone allows him to read minds. Then there is Larson who holds the red stone. It erases memories. Michael has a blue stone that controls water in its three forms. Kibba has yellow, which gives him the ability to control the wind. And your brother, Apollo, has the green which allows him to control earthly movements."
"Josh?"
"No, your real brother. You see you and Athena are down here to prove a point to Zeus or God or whatever you want to call him. You are trying to teach him a lesson that being mortal isn't a bad thing and you can always retain new knowledge no matter how many times you are born, nothing is predestined. You have the ability to change it."
"But doesn't he see it all coming? He knows how everything will play out for everyone."
"For all the mortals, yes. But when it comes to immortals, they are unpredictable. Every time a mortal crosses the path of an immortal, their outcome is changed."
"That is so weird. So because I am immortal and I affect the lives around me, I basically proved my point? But isn't that cheating?"
Seth shrugged. "I'm not quite sure of the terms, but I do know that whoever you gave the black stone to is nowhere to be found."
"The black stone?"
"The stone that gives life or takes life. The last person that had it was my brother, Ian. But he is dead. I don't know who you gave it to after that..."
