Chapter 28: The Cave

"We followed your so-called team and had special weapons forged of our own. So your counter-attack with those guns will be useless because believe it or not, we have them too." Gabriel sneered.

I shouldn't have been surprised. I hated Gabriel, but he was clever and resourceful. How in the hell were we going to counter now? Athena and I observed who on their side has special guns. Only three.

"Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to really test these babies out," Gabriel said. Tyler handed him one of the special guns. "Hmm let's find out if it works on immortals in general then work our way up, shall we?"

"That's not necessary," Athena said. "You have 3 gods here. No one else needs to be collateral."

"Shut up!" Gabriel growled. He composed himself and pointed the gun at Leo. "Eenie." He pointed the gun to Jeremy. "Meenie." He pointed it at Karli. "Minie." He pointed the gun at Zach. "Mo." He pulled the trigger and Zach burst into an explosion of light and disappeared.

"Noooo!" Athena screamed, trying to catch Zach's disappearing light.

"Wow. This little gem works well." Gabriel grinned and examined it.

"Fuck off you fucking-" Athena charged at him, but he trained his gun at her. She stopped.

Athena rolled her eyes. "What? You're going to shoot me? You think that thing will work on me?"

"Athena..." Poseidon warned.

"There's one way to find out." Gabriel released the safety on the gun and pointed it at me.

"Seriously?" Athena growled.

"As much as you'd like to make this about you, darling... it isn't. It's about a feud I have with your dear sister Artemis. You just chose her side." Gabriel said.

I didn't know how legit this gun was. I did have the chance of actually dying, but I also had the opportunity to use this moment to fake my death.

I glanced at Jeremy. He shook his head.

"Ooo communicating with each other, are we." Gabriel sneered.

"Dude, seriously. I'm not threatened by you." I started stepping forward.

Athena moved her arm to pull me back, but I dodged it. I walked closer to Gabriel.

"Do it," I said.

"What?" He looked confused with how bold I was.

"Shoot me."

"Artemis..." Athena started.

"JUST FUCKING DO IT!!!" I screamed. Gabriel's hand shook.

"What are you waiting for?" Aphrodite hissed.

I lunged for Aphrodite's gun and all hell broke loose again. Shots were fired. Me firing one of them. I saw Hannah, Leo's ex, evaporate into the light. Whoops.

"Gabriel," Aphrodite screamed at him to snap out of his gaze.

Gabriel pointed his gun at me the same time I managed to point mine at him. However, he fired first.

My chest hurt. Bad. I could feel myself falling back. The gun flew out of my hand. The sky overhead was cloudy and dark. I could see the lightning crack within the clouds. Fuck, am I dying?

I fell back hard. I could hear Athena's scream. Poseidon threw a fit of rage, pulling a large wall of water from the sea. It towered over us. Angels teleported the hell out of there because they knew they were goners. Michael created a shield around our friends. Guess they thought I was a goner. The wave took me and pulled me out to sea.
