Becks and I walked into our science class. Jason was already sitting in the back, his feet up on the table and his chair leaning back. He was laughing at something one of his jock friends said. I looked at Becks with a skeptical face. It was hard to get Jason out of his 'I only talk to my jock friends' phase. When he was like this, he completely ignored her. Becks wasn't one to play sports. She was more into shopping. On the other hand, since I played sports, Jason found it perfectly fine to talk to me.

"Jason," Becks said, sitting down in an empty seat next to him. That was her greeting to him. I almost choked on laughter when my gaze met Jason's.

"Hey. You girls in this class too?" A grin appeared on his face.

"Obviously. Why else would we be here?" I said sarcastically, sitting in front of Becks and next to one of Jason's jock friends.

"No need for sarcasm, sugar." Jason laughed.

"What is with guys and pet names today?" I grumbled, setting my bag on the floor.

"Hold on... what?" Jason leaned forward in his seat. "What do you mean?"

"The transfer students have a bit of a thing for her." Becks laughed.

"Are they bothering you? I can open a can of whop ass if you need me to..." Jason offered sincerely.

I sighed. "They're fine. And I don't need you acting like my brother. I already have one for that."

"I wasn't acting like your brother," Jason mumbled. Some of his friends snickered. Becks and I both furrowed our brows and looked at each other.

"Anyways..." I reached in my bag to grab my notebook, but Jason shot out of his seat and grabbed my arm.

"What's this?" He asked, looking at the number written on my arm.

"Oh... that's Blake's number." I said casually, ripping my arm from his hand and continuing to take out stuff.

"Who's he?"

"Like I said... transfer student. We are working on a project together. Chill man." I laughed.

Jason was back in his seat. Becks looked at me with a weird expression on her face. Something was up.

The class came and went as the bell signaled us for a break. I happily pranced out of the classroom and stretched my arms upwards once Becks and I reached our lockers.

"Does Jason seem to be acting weird lately?" Becks asked suddenly.

"Yea... but I mean common... it's Jason. He may be a popular jock, but he is one weird kid." I laughed.

"No... I mean around us. He was acting like I wasn't there..." Becks sighed.

I nodded. "'Jock phase.' Remember? We went over this."

Becks looked down at her shoes. "I guess you're right."

"Honestly Becks... I think you can do better than him. Look how he's treating you! You need a guy who will give you the attention you want and deserve."

"I guess you're right. But Liz... it's Jason. I can't just get over him!"

I was about to say something when I felt a presence behind me. I turned and saw Jeremy at the locker beside mine.

He looked up from the lock he was trying to open. "Don't mind me. Just at my locker." He said quietly.

Becks sighed, and I turned back to face her. She looked depressed. "Liz, I spent all summer and now it's come to this... again."
