Kibba above.
The next day I woke up still feeling groggy. Part of me wanted to talk to Shelby or Poseidon because they probably were reacting to the battle just as much as I was. But, another part of me knew that I needed to make sure Becks was ok. We had just gotten her back and she looked a bit shell shocked. I wanted to know what had happened while she was in hell with Lucifer.
I got up and made my way out of my bedroom door. Kibba groggily followed me, his paws making a pitter-patter sound on the tile floor. It was still early in the morning, but I could hear some voices coming from the living room and kitchen. I walked in to find Larson perched on the couch with a blanket wrapped around him, a mug of hot coffee in hand. Kibba ran over and jumped up next to him on the couch and snuggled close.
"You would think you don't give him enough attention." Larson laughed, patting Kibba on the head.
"I honestly should give him more attention," I said and observed the pillow on the couch. Jeremy and Karli were in the kitchen and by the smell of it, they were making breakfast.
"Did you sleep on the couch?" I asked.
"Yeah... there weren't enough beds for me." Larson laughed quietly.
"I don't intend this to sound weird or anything, but my bed is plenty big. If you want-" I began but he laughed loudly.
"Are you trying to get me to sleep with you?" He grinned.
"Well, no. I just thought-"
"Relax. I get it. Thanks. I'll take you up on that offer. The couch wasn't the comfiest." He rolled his neck back.
"You could've just transformed into a dog and made it easier on yourself," Karli said.
"But I like being a person." He patted Kibba's head. "I'm sure any creature would do the same if they could." Kibba's ears twitched at the sound of that. "Anyways, what are you doing up? I thought you'd sleep in a bit more." Larson said.
"I actually wanted to check up on a few people," I said.
"Rem is fine now. We've been taking shifts making sure his face is healing fine and it is. He's almost completely healed physically but emotionally... severely scarred. He hasn't said much since Sophia... you know." Jeremy said, flipping a pancake.
I nodded once. "That's to be expected. Poseidon and Shelby?"
"They are doing ok. Same as you. Sort of wanted to keep to themselves. Sleep it off. Let their brains process what happened." Jeremy placed a pancake on a plate.
"And Becks."
"I'm actually not sure." Jeremy looked to Karli. She shrugged as well.
"Mind telling me which room she's in?" I asked Karli.
"Sure. Third door on the right." She said, pouring a glass of orange juice.
I nodded thanks and headed down the hall to Becks' room. Kibba stayed behind with Larson.
I lightly knocked on the door.
"Come in," Becks said quietly.
I opened the door to the darkroom. Shelby was sleeping soundly in the bed next to Becks who was sitting up and playing on her phone.
"Can I... talk to you?" I asked quietly.
"Sure." She put her phone down. "My parents are surprisingly pissed at me. Not for the fact that I'm here and not at school but for the fact that I haven't been pestering them for the past couple of days." She chuckled uneasily. "Can you believe that?"
