"So... Will," Joséphine began.
They sat directly in front of the long window of The Castel Café. William had chosen this spot in particular so that the almost non- existent lights of the day would illuminate her facial features. A smart choice on his part actually.
She twirled the coffee cup slowly as she looked deep into his eyes, a small smile playing on her face. "Can I ask you a few questions?"
William looked slightly confused for a moment but quickly nodded, eager to please her.
She grinned and sat up, never breaking eye contact. "What was the lat song you listened to?"
"Uh... Marry me by Train," he said uncomfortably. The words came to him suddenly. "Marry me... today and everyday. Marry me... if I ever get the nerve to say hello in this café say you will"
The lyrics caused him to gulp. He suddenly wanted to burst out singing this to her.
She nodded at his previous spoken answer. He was thankful that she couldn't hear his thought process. "Last food?" she continued.
"Now wait a minute I want to know about you too," he argued, despite his longing to make her happy.
She cocked her head to one side and broke eye contact briefly. "Alright, but you need to come up with your own questions."
William closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "Well... What's your Zodiac sign?"
"Virgo," she answered automatically.
William raised his eyebrows. "Really?"
"Yup, what about you?"
"I thought we had to come up with our own questions?"
"I've changed my mind."
"Already?"
She quickly nodded and tapped her fingers. "Well?"
William sighed, although he was pretty sure that only he knew it was a sigh of happiness. "I'm a Virgo."
She giggled a girlish giggle. "Well when's your birthday?"
He began twiddling his thumbs, making an effort for them not to touch each other. "When's yours?"
William suddenly felt her hands on his own, stopping them from any further movement. "September 17th." she said, tracing circles of his palms.
William's eyes widened. "Really?" he asked, his voice rising to an octave he wasn't aware it could reach.
She nodded. "Aren't you going to tell me yours?"
He shrugged and looked down at his almost empty coffee cup.
"Will!" she exclaimed with a half giggle, smacking his hands.
He looked up, mock surprise filling his expression. "What?" he asked innocently.
"When is it?" she demanded
William laughed. "The same day."
Her eyes widened. "Seriously?"
He rolled his eyes with a grin. "Noo." he said sarcastically.
She sighed and mumbled something unetelligable.
"What?"
"Nothing." she said quickly, as her eyes fell to their joined hands.
William eyed her carefully for a moment before continuing. "How old are you?" he questioned.
"30." She muttered, her eyes not meeting his.
