(A:N/// Thank god! I had a very brief (yet very intense) case of writers block, this chapter almost didn't happen. Well, I'm pretty much over it now and I should finish Adieu without an further problems. :) Although... A comment might be nice...)
Josephine closed her eyes as she felt his hand stop suddenly in her chestnut locks.
"What?" He asked hoarsely.
"I'm pregnant," she repeated, feeling yet another tickle on her cheek.
William was completely silent, and even though she couldn't see his face in the darkness, Josephine knew he was in complete and utter shock.
"I-I... Y-you... W-we..," he took a deep breath. "Are you sure?"
She nodded, her emerald eyes opening once more. "I'm no obstetrician, but I am smart enough to know the symptoms, not to mention I took a test anyway."
"But... I mean-"
"The dates match," she insisted, another tear rolling down her cheek. "I'm about seven weeks now, I'm positive."
Only the slowing raindrops could be heard for a long moment before she felt his fingers continue through her curls once more. "Well then," he murmured, wiping away a drop of moisture with his thumb. "I don't see why your crying."
Josephine tilted her head back until she could look him in the eye. "I'll be alone," she said tearfully. "I-I'll be miserable without you already, but with a-"
He interrupted her by kissing her gently for a moment. "You'll be just fine my love," he promised. "You'll have your baby boy just like you've always wanted."
She shook her head, swallowing. "What if it's not a boy?"
William's lips tugged upward on one side. "He is," he vowed. "He's going to look just like me, except for your eyes, and he'll have your beautiful laugh and enchanting smile."
Josephine tucked her face into the crook of his neck. "I don't want to live without you. I don't want our child to live without you," she cried onto his skin.
He slowly removed his fingers from her hair, wrapping them around her shoulders instead. "I'll always be with you Josephine. I promise, I'll always live right in your heart, in my heaven; And I know you'll make sure that our son knows about me," he whispered.
"What makes you so sure it's a boy?"
"The Smyth first child never fails to be a boy."
Josephine slowly moved her face off of him until was about an inch from his face. "What if he doesn't love me?" She whispered.
William chuckled. "Not only is it physically impossible for a newborn to not love it's mother, but it's also impossible for anyone to not love Josephine Smyth."
Jose sniffed. "But you won't ever see him," she complained. "He won't ever see you, he'll never hear your voice."
William was quiet for a moment. "Who says?" He murmured.
Josephine frowned. "Pregnancy is nine-"
"Couldn't I... Talk to him now? And everyday until... You know."
It was Josephine's turn to be quiet for a bit.
"I mean, I know that there's really nothing there yet, but... Wouldn't it-"
"I think it's a good idea, but can you do it later?" She asked gently, turning to her side and laying her head onto his chest. "I'm pretty tired."
William nodded. "Only... I have a few questions."
