Gideon jumped on his sister, wrapping his arms around her with a wide smile and glinting eyes. "Happy birthday, Paz!"
Pacifica hugged him back with a smile. "Thanks, Gid." she turned to look at her parents. "I don't know what to say. . . Thank you so much."
The kitchen was set up with a table and a white cloth over it, on top of the table was a huge chocolate cake with sprinkles and a 14 number lit up candle, and a lot of party food. There were purple and green balloons around the living room and the kitchen — since both were decorated for a party — and a huge banner hanging from the roof written 'Happy Birthday, Pacifica' and a little drawing of her head — that she assumed Gideon made — on the side.
"It's your birthday, my daughter, you deserve it!" Bud exclaimed.
Pacifica felt herself tearing up. It was beautiful, she loved it. "Thanks, Dad," she ran to her parents and hugged them both. "Thanks, Mom!"
Bud and his wife hugged her back. "Happy 14 years, my child," Mrs. Corduroy said. "You'll grow up to be a beautiful, smart and strong woman, I know it."
Pacifica looked up to her mom with a smile. Mrs. Corduroy gently caressed her hair, undoing a knot or two.
"We almost thought we came in late for the party," Lucy said.
"Did you get surprised? We tried to make this a surprise." Tiffany said.
"Yes, I got surprised," Pacifica said. "I didn't think you'd give me a birthday party, neither would invite people outside family."
"Oh please, honey, what's a birthday party without the birthday girl's friends?" Bud asked. "I had to invite your two friends, and Soos, of course, and well, Dipper."
"Even Tyrone came!" Gideon said.
Dipper put a hand behind his head. "I didn't know what to give you, so, when you open it, I hope you like them."
Them? What did he buy her? How many things did he buy her?
"Let's cut the cake, I'm sure you'll love it." Mrs. Corduroy said.
They went to the table and Pacifica stood in front of the cake, the others stayed around her with Gideon at her left and her parents at her right. They clapped and sang: "Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Pacifica, Happy Birthday to you!"
She blew the candles. The claps got louder and excited screams were heard. Pacifica cut a piece of the cake and put it on a plate with a plastic fork on it. She looked around her, pensively. "Hm. . . The first piece of cake has to go for someone I love deeply, someone that has been there for me in the greatest moments, someone that brought me joy this summer." she looked around, then turned to Gideon. "This is yours, Gid."
Gideon grinned with his mouth opened. "Really?!" he threw his arms in the air. "Yay!" he cheered, and took the cake, taking a bite out of it with the fork.
"Let's serve ourselves, now!" Mrs. Corduroy said.
After a while of partying, Soos walked up to Pacifica with a rectangular thin box wrapped on a green gift wrapper in hands. "Hey, kid, I told my grandmother how much you wanted to meet her, but since she couldn't come to the party, she gave you this," he handed her the box. "Consider this a gift from us both, hope you like it."
Pacifica carefully opened the wrapper. She gasped when she saw what was written inside. "No way," she looked up to Soos. "A potion book?!"
"One of her bests," Soos said.
