"No."
Pacifica had barely processed everything when Gideon spat an answer to Wendy. She tilted her head with a confused look, her fingers wrapped together in front of her hanfu.
"Sorry?"
"I said no," Gideon said. "We're not joining your cult."
Wendy blinked. "Oh?" her head undid the tilt. "I don't think you understand," she said. "I wasn't asking."
Their surroundings were altered — not like an illusion, but like the whole place was actually shaping itself. The wood turned into marble, Pacifica and Gideon were dragged behind and fell to the floor on a large stone pedestal behind them. The siblings struggled to keep standing, but they tried their best. Instead of the lobby of the palace, now the two were in some kind of empty marble and stone temple room filled with grey and white. The room was large, and although it had no windows, it was bright inside. The roof was supported by four marble columns on each corner of the room. Two large pedestals on opposite sides of the room: one in the front, and one in the back — that Pacifica and Gideon stood before.
"Where are we now?" Pacifica thought.
"My world," Wendy replied. "And in this world, I command."
Gideon gulped. "I have seen magical places before," he thought. "But this? This is new. . ."
A green glow surrounded Wendy. What kept her hair tied up disappeared and her hair was let down as her feet lifted off the ground. Pacifica and Gideon followed with their heads as Wendy flew higher and higher, until her head was barely touching the rooftop. "Still doubt my abilities?"
"Not your abilities, just your godlike existence." Gideon replied.
Wendy frowned at that, she pointed her arm towards the siblings. Greyish-green smoke formed on both her sides and turned into green glowing — emerald-like — axes. The axes flew at Gideon and Pacifica. Gideon held his shirt and his eyes glowed blue. He used his amulet to make both him and Pacifica fly up on the pedestal, dodging the attacks. Wendy showed no reaction — as if she didn't even care she missed.
More axes appeared out of the greyish-green smoke. Multiple of them were thrown at the siblings, who ran, flew, and dodged the best they could. Pacifica ran and hid behind one of the columns, her breath was steady and her eyes fully wide. She was desperate, panicked. There had to be something stronger than her. She spied on the corner to watch Gideon and her fighting. Gideon didn't make any similar attacks to Wendy's. That meant he was weaker than Wendy, her magic was either more advanced or he was limited to things she wasn't.
Check the journal.
Pacifica knew the journal had magical spells, but she never tried them out. What if they were fake?
Check the journal.
Her mind demanded. She was reluctant, but didn't have time to think about it. She needed to be quick. She reached inside the inner pocket of her jacket and grabbed a hard 3D rectangular figure.
Check the journal.
She pulled her journal out of her jacket and opened it. She started to go through the pages and search for a spell to help her and her brother against Wendy. Maybe there was some shield or attack? One caught her attention, hopefully, it was as effective as it looked. She ran from behind the pillar to Gideon's side — who was slightly wounded. She raised her arm and screamed: "PROTEGE ROTAM TUAM EIUS FONS POTENTIAE!"
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
He grew tired of being a searcher.
