The woman that greeted Pacifica stood in front of the board with some purple gameshow cards in her hands and a microphone attached to her ear and goin to her mouth. "Welcome, kids! It is I, Susan Jimenez!" she exclaimed. "Who's excited for the competition?"

Many screams were heard, including Mabel's, she even raised her arms to show excitement, she really loves being there. "Alright! Let's start with our usual then: a facts quiz!" Susan said. "For those who are new or don't remember the rules, there's a button on the sides of your chairs, you can only press them after a question is made if you know the answer! But only the top four will be going for the last round!" she explained. "If you pay attention, the number of your seat or ticket is showing on the screen behind me, to see your points just check the screen!" Susan looked at one of the cards on her hands, the questions were written on them. "Alright, let's start with a simple question: when was Falling Gravity founded?"

Many kids pressed the button, the number ten turned green on the screen, meaning Mabel was the one to press the button first. "Number ten!" Susan shouted.

"It was founded in June 18, 1842." Mabel answered.

"Correct!" Susan exclaimed.

Under the number ten appeared the number five.

"Second question, pay attention!" Susan said, changing cards. "This is also easy. Where is the capital of US?"

Pacifica pressed the button faster than Mabel, she smiled a bit. "Number eleven!" Susan shouted.

"Washington DC!" Pacifica shouted.

"Correct!" Susan shouted back.

Under the number eleven appeared the number five as well. Pacifica punched the air in excitement, not noticing she got a glare from Mabel.

Gideon prepared his project for the science fair of the Sciences Competitions. He already had a main idea of what it would be, but still felt like there was something missing. He looked around, seeing what the others didn't have that he could make his own more unique. Sadly, that was getting hard to notice, everyone seemed to be getting creative that day.

"Oi, Corduroy!" a shout from Candy called his attention. "What are you peeking at?"

"Not peeking! Just daydreaming." Gideon lied with a smile.

Candy eyed him up and down with suspicion. "Watch it. Don't forget my mom is in charge of this competition, and I will have you declassified if you're trying to cheat or copy someone else."

"I'm not! I promise." Gideon said. "Also, shouldn't you be watching your own project?"

"I caught you staring, so I wanted to check what it was about." Candy fixed the ponytail she had, because heck, she can't keep it down while working on a project on that hot summer day. She undid the ponytail and tied it to a bun, it felt better like that. "I already have my draft done, and it won't take long to properly build it." if there's anyone cheating in this competition, that's Candy. Her mom works for a digital business — which is why she was chosen to stay in charge of the Sciences Competition — and her father's a mechanic, so she has a great knowledge on machines and things like that.

But Gideon had something she didn't, and wasn't against the rules: magic; and it clicked to him, that was what could be missing. A touch of magic! What's more unique than that? Besides, who could prove that he was using it and declassify him for that? The majority of the townsfolk didn't believe in magic anyways. It was perfect! He held his amulet discretely, smiling as he thought of how he could use it as an addition to his project.
