chapter 23~ tonight's the night

It was the next day when (Y/n) awoke to find Leo beside her. He sat in a chair off to her right, head rolled back with his mouth gaping. She silently propped herself on her elbow to better examine the scene around her.

The girl discovered Ray leaning against the far wall, sound asleep on his feet, as well as Brayden curled up on the ground with a stolen pillow from her bed. To the left, sitting on the desk, was Mason, the only one awake. He smiled when he noticed her looking at him. (Y/n) shivered lightly, turning herself away. She felt he had been examining her.

The only boy who wasn't present was Tobias. She didn't think too hard about it, instead determined to spend her day looking for Hannah. (Y/n) needed to let her companion know she had obtained the key and was ready to escape. Of course, she had no idea where Hannah was, so she could afford no distraction from any of the five boys.

She crawled to the foot of her bed, intending to slide off feet first onto the floor. However, she ended up stepping on something that was very much alive. A startled grunt sounded from beneath her.

(Y/n) yelped, scrambling to get off of the redhead, accidentally stepping on his stomach in the process. The wind was knocked out of the boy and he gasped, struggling for breath. The commotion awoke the other boys, who proceeded to make fun of Tobias as soon as they had rubbed the sleep out of their eyes.

"Ouch", he coughed. "That hurt..."

"(Y/n) certainly makes an effective alarm clock", Brayden grinned.

"I don't think alarm clocks are supposed to get up and step on you", the boy muttered, his body and pride injured.

"What were you thinking, sleeping at the foot of my bed anyway?" (Y/n) chastised.

"Was guarding you."

She scoffed.

The only thing I need to be guarded against are you people...

"Shall we go get breakfast since you're up now, my love?" Leo asked, addressing the girl.

Her stomach grumbled at the mention of food. Leo held in a chuckle at the cute noise. (Y/n) noticed this, but reluctantly accepted.

"Might as well", she muttered.

"Great!" He clapped his hands. "Let's go."

"W-wait", (Y/n) objected suddenly. "Can I get dressed first?"

"Of course. We'll leave you to it."

"Can I..." She hesitated to wonder if her request would arouse suspicion among the five. Disregarding caution, she continued with her question. "Can I have a maid help me?"

Tobias and Mason immediately narrowed their eyes. However, Leo kept a straight face.

"Why? You haven't ever wanted one until now", he questioned innocently. "If you need help, I'm glad to stay and be of assistance~"

"No... thank you. I just need a woman to help me with... something."

Ray's face reddened. "Leo, get her a damn maid."

"Why?" Brayden asked, confused. "I'm highly skilled in sciences and human anatomy. I'm sure I can be of help if (Y/n) has a problem."

"N-NO!" Now, it was (Y/n)'s turn to blush. She did not enjoy the way the conversation was going. "Forget it, then, it was stupid of me to ask anyways-"

"(N/n)." Leo was instantly by her side, holding one of her hands in a gentlemanly manner. He leaned closer. "Whatever you ask for will be yours. I'll make sure of it." He pulled away.
