It was Brayden.
"Finally, you showed up", he called, approaching her at a steady rate.
She turned to run, but he was on her in seconds. His hand darted out like a viper, squeezing her wrist hard. (Y/n) yelped, attempting to twist her wrist out of his grasp, but he refused to give her up.
"You really thought I wouldn't notice my missing car key?" He hissed.
"Let go of me", she demanded, successfully wrenching her arm out of reach. Her victory was short-lived, however, as he swept her legs out from underneath her. She landed hard on the ground, Brayden standing over her menacingly.
"Stay down", he advised sharply.
"Gonna tell the others?" (Y/n) asked in a bitter tone.
He chuckled, but made no reply. This unsettled the girl even more. After a few seconds of silence, she looked at him in confusion. Why had he not done anything?
"What's your plan here? We're gonna spend the whole night outside?"
"No", he said calmly. "We're waiting."
He did not explain further, instead crossing his arms and scrutinizing the darkness. (Y/n) wondered if she should make a break for it, but decided against it, noticing his stance. While his upper torso was turned away from her, his foot pointed ever so slightly in her direction in case she tried to run.
Clever bitch.
Footsteps were heard on the gravel.
"Ah, here she comes. Stay quiet, will you?" He shifted over, blocking (Y/n) from the view of whoever was approaching.
(Y/n)'s blood turned to ice when he mentioned a 'she'. There were very few of those he could have been talking about.
Oh, please, no...
"(Y/n)...? Is that you? Jesus, it's hard to see out here... I'm sorry I'm late!"
Sure enough, she recognized the tones of Hannah advancing toward them in the dark.
"Hannah-!" She cried out in a somewhat strangled voice. Before she could utter another word of warning, Brayden met Hannah halfway, quickly subduing the unsuspecting girl.
"Geez, (Y/n), I told you to be quiet, didn't I?" He held her friend with her arms behind her back. "No matter, your friend's quite slow on the uptake, anyways."
Hannah struggled in his grasp. "(Y/n), why is he here!?"
"He figured me out", she choked, looking at the ground in shame. "I should have been more careful..."
"Well, I'm glad you weren't, angel", the bluenette said brightly. "Here, catch!"
He threw something shiny at her. She recognized what it was and hurriedly stepped back, letting the object fall to the ground. It was a large knife with a razor sharp blade.
"Why would you throw me the weapon?" (Y/n) wondered aloud.
"It's very simple", he assured her. "You're going to kill this maid for me."
She looked at him, shocked to the core. Hannah stared at (Y/n), also stunned by his order. Brayden rolled his eyes, shoving his captive forward.
"Pick up the knife."
"No... I don't think I will", (Y/n) responded, slowly shaking her head.
"So, you're gonna leave her with me?" Brayden asked conversationally.
The silence seemed to stretch on for eternity, the gears in (Y/n)'s brain working madly to try and find a way out of the situation. One that didn't involve abandoning Hannah.
