It was Hannah. She emerged from the darkness into (Y/n)'s sight with a kind of vague elegance that she could not describe. However, the girl's mind turned to other matters as she noticed the other figures behind the brunette.
"HURRY! RUN! RUN!" Hannah shouted, breaking the spell of silence. Footsteps pounded on gravel as the people rushed at (Y/n).
The girl needed no further explanation, yet lingered a moment longer for Hannah. As she turned to make a mad dash for Brayden's car, Hannah thrust something into her hand, like a relay runner handing off the baton. She felt cold, hard metal press into her palm and knew instantly what she held. How Hannah had obtained it, she didn't know, but she figured it had something to do with why the boys were chasing them.
Holding her resentful feelings at bay, (Y/n) set her mind on the task at hand: Making it to the car fully intact.
She tried cocking the weapon; no need, it was already prepared. The girl craned her neck around, still in a sprint, to aim. A loud noise echoed throughout the night, ringing in her ears, and sending shivers down her spine. The gun jumped in her hands as it unloaded its bullet. There was no scream of pain or even the sight of a fallen boy, through such a view may have been impossible in this lack of light. A missed chance.
There was not much distance left between the two girls and the car, but the gap between them and the boys was steadily closing as well. (Y/n) readied the weapon once more, telling herself she wouldn't miss again.
A second bang. This time, a stifled cry and the thud of a body landing hard against the ground. She was unsure whether she had killed him or merely incapacitated him. The girl wondered which boy she had injured, though she didn't stop to contemplate.
Hannah had pulled a little ahead of (Y/n), who had slowed slightly to take her shots, and now she grabbed (Y/n)'s arm, attempting to pull her along faster.
"Forget about them, just focus on running!"
She obeyed. They skidded to a halt next to the car. Luckily, (Y/n) already held the keys in her free hand. She tossed Hannah the gun while she fumbled with the buttons. The brunette shakily cocked the weapon, not nearly as efficiently as the other girl had done. She pointed it at the advancing boys, silently praying she wouldn't have to fire. Murder was not something she had planned on doing that night.
Unlock unlock unlock... Jesus, where is it!?
It seemed to take ages just to press that tiny button, but she finally managed it.
"IT'S UNLOCKED, GO!" (Y/n) herself ran to the driver's side, while Hannah dove into the passenger seat. The car doors slammed almost in unison. Other things also slammed against the vehicle. One didn't exactly slam but pounded his fists against the metal plating.
"OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR, (Y/N)!! (Y/N)!!"
The mentioned female started the car with unsteady hands, distracted by the boy's threatening tone. Next to her, Hannah locked the doors, then proceeded to lock them again and again, paranoid that she had left something open.
Suddenly, Ray's face appeared in (Y/n)'s window. It was contorted with pure, black rage, dark as the night around him. He didn't say anything, but pounded on the glass, punching it with his fist over and over. (Y/n) was now white with fear, yet she continued her endeavors.
Soon, the car was in motion, backing out at an alarming speed. (Y/n) hoped she wouldn't run into the gate's sides, but she couldn't stop herself from urging the car on as fast as it would go.
They left the boys to stand in the dust, staring after their lost possession with vengeful eyes.

"Why did you have to take that gun?" (Y/n) groaned, half relieved, half still scared shit-less.
