Chapter 64: Dug Up Bones
"Do any of you remember someone named Valges?" Sega glanced from face to face, the siblings' genetic features prominent in their features.
Sega noted two confused expressions while the last turned rigid. Icy eyes stared at Vyronas, but the astute man looked aware. He wore his glasses. It was later in the evening and he was probably alone reading.
Vahala perched on a stool, her legs peeking out from an extravagant plum dress with layers of frills and ruffles. Despite looking as if she would cut off a dick, her style was quite soft and feminine.
Valas turned back to him, his head not bothering to swivel in Vyronas' direction. "Who the fuck is that?"
Vyronas gave a bark of mirthless laughter, and everyone in the room turned to him. "No forgive me, I, I just find it funny that...no, never mind. Sega, why did you call us here?"
Valas narrowed his eyes at Vyronas. The man was being weirder than normal, and that was saying quite a lot. Vahala arched a brow at her youngest brother, crossing her arms. "Vyronas, do you know who he is? You sound quite bitter that Valas and I do not hold a memory of him. You'll have to forgive us for missing whatever information you are withholding."
Sega held up a pausing hand at Vyronas, who looked like he could yell or cry. "Wait, before you lash out, allow me to regale a story. If by the end these two are still confused, then we will all know why and you can sort your feelings out from there."
"Sort my feelings out? My feelings for you two murderers who live life like people didn't crumble in your wake? I already have my feelings, Sega."
Valas turned in his chair, already tired of his brother's whining. "What the fuck is it now, Vyronas? You walk around judging us, sneering at our existence, your disgust evident. When will you finally unclog your stuffed ass and get all the shit out?!"
"Me?!" Vyronas angrily threw the contents sitting on a dresser next to him, the candles and metal tray clanging across the floor. "It's you who walk around as if you are holier than fucking thou! And you don't even know how low on the scum scale you are. It pisses me off that you or your asshole friend don't even care to remember why I hate you both!"
Sega looked at Vahala, who shook her head in exasperation, drinking directly from a champagne bottle she'd brought with her. Her brothers did not share brotherly love, at least not anymore.
Valas stood, his face flat. "Surely a wimpy little ass kissing sniveling snot isn't growling at me? I don't like your current level of aggression, Vyronas. Would you like to speak with your fist? Come, let me break another pair of glasses!"
Sega rubbed his temple. Vyronas could stay alive well enough, but he was not Valas' level of unbridled craze. Sega threw a pillow at Valas. "You! Sit down and calm down. Take all that animosity and turn it into your attention span. This is serious! Really serious and I need you to listen to me because it affects you the most."
Valas paused at Sega's words. Vyronas had put the table between himself and his hotheaded brother. Once their father got his perfect first son, he'd left Vyronas to his own devices. Better to say, he simply gave no fucks about what he did.
His mother took the most interest in him, giving him his first books, pointing him to the memoirs. Despite what Valas and Vyjas portrayed, the Forest was not solely full of rage and selfishness. His mother was a fantastic diplomat who instilled the same values in her children.
Thanks to her, Vyronas and Vahala held far less of a temper, and probably more active brain activity. They were both also very keen on how to act with their father to stay beneath his radar, much like their mother.
