Chapter 56: Bad Dog Origins Part 3

"Where were you all day? You know we were set to depart for the hunt today and my son became suspiciously absent. Did you forget you were to run with Gin and help steer the hunters?"

Sega stared at his large father. The man did not often shift but when he did, his frame was massive. His father's fur was as dark as his own but always seemed darker, as if all the light in the world could not make the fur shine.

Blue eyes cast away. Since they would spend the next two to three weeks running the herds towards the packlands, they would remain shifted the entire time.

He wanted to groan, this meant he and Valges would not be having sex the whole time. Of course, there were other priorities, but after these past two nights, sex was really on his mind.

"I... wanted to drink to my fill before we left? I'm pretty sure I was blackout drunk, away, father." I was drunk off having a lot of really great sex, but you don't want to hear those details.

The growl from his father made Sega back away, but thankfully they were in the company of a lot of people, including other packs.

He kept his distance, trying to at least look sheepish. "Father, I will be on my best behavior. You will not have any trouble with me on the hunt. You know I don't misbehave publicly."

Leiodus closed his eyes in sheer irritation, "if you were not my only son, I would have already chopped you to pieces and sold you on back markets by now. This is why you will be travelling with me. This nonsense cannot continue. You take my patience for granted, and it's only when you force me to act on my nature that my point gets across."

Leiodus pinned his son with a bored look. "All I ask for is obedience and structure, and you give me disobedience and chaos. Sega, do you know I'm very good to you, more than you think? I often choose far more ruthless routes, but you are my most precious child that I have to rear for greatness. If it means cutting out all the weeds that hinder your growth, then so be it. You are on the last line of my graces, remember that."

As Leiodus walked away, another black Shashiva approached Sega. "Prince Sega, was the King upset with you? I heard his growl all the way over there. It also displeased him that I was not able to find you all day."

Sega gazed back at Aesmond, and his brows bent with an apologetic look. The moment he noted the scar on Aesmond, he felt terrible. "Oh, shit, Aes! I forgot the whole body guard thing, I didn't even think about it, I was so caught up with myself."

He and Aesmond had known each other for a while, Aesmond was the son of a high personal ranking guard. Aes had been allowed to pretty much grow up in the castle to learn from his father.

They were friends in a sense, but they weren't as close as he was with Rafeo or Valas. It was not easy for Aesmond to hang out so freely. "Ah... I'll do better, you were roped into this because of me and now you have to get chewed out if I don't behave."

Aesmond's intense eyes were very contrasting against his dark fur, as much as Sega's, but he also gleamed with an odd look, as if he analyzed anyone he spoke to.

Sega always pinned it to having a high-ranking guard as a father, but sometimes Aes' eyes seemed to look at him too intensely.

"Mm, he was unhappy, but I did not do my job well. I noticed you at the Ritual. I keep my distance respectfully so you don't feel burdened by my assignment. I noticed you did not stay with the group and had company. It would have been impolite to intrude, but I am required to know your whereabouts. You, however, are far too fast for me."
