“You just got here and now you are leaving again. It seems I can’t keep men in my life.”

“Mom…” Aiden hugged the short frame clinging to him. He squeezed her like they hadn’t talked every day for two weeks. “I can’t say it enough. I’ve missed you so much. I know I cry a lot about my mates, but you are my mother and no one can make me feel like a big ass baby like you.”

“Really now? I wouldn’t have known. You begged Leo to zap you up this mountain and cry in my arms, but alas, your youthful cravings came first.”

Aiden burned red. “Mooom. I’m sorry. I was definitely a trash King. Sega had me terrified and my brain just turned everything else off. You know you mean everything to me. Don’t think my relationship means more.”

Nola stroked the shorter beard, her heart singing with happiness. “I know my little Sunray. You are building your family, which means you are building my family. Seeing my little Naki again had me in tears. Seeing you bring both of your heart’s home alongside yourself gave me all the hope in the world. Void once took my world from me and to think he did it again made me crumble. Your Sega is a good man and I’m proud to call him a son, too.”

Nola knew her son, knew his hopes and dreams, his fears and his apprehensions. “Sega was a wonderful help. Though broken and battered, he reassured our people. He worked himself to the bones, securing our city and going out to help people every day. You found yourself two mates and two kings worth being at your side. I know everything you’ve done is for your loves and to make sure we all can live a good and happy life. I’m so proud of everything you’ve done, Sunray, and I know you won’t make me cry again.”

Aiden’s eye misted. “Void told me the day he took my heart that he’s been the symbol of death and destruction my entire life. He took the pain Phillius felt when my mother passed and used it to make the man bitter and empty. No…it goes further than that. He created the plague that claimed my mother as well. He made me squirm with anger so much that I attacked someone I should have never hated. He lied to father and made him touch that evil.”
